General Information

  • Anaerobic, form spores, it is a bacteria that causes life threatening gas gangrene and mild enterotoxaemia in humans.
  • Produces many different enzymes as well a toxins that are responsible for the severe myonecrotic lesions.
  • Type A food poisoning.


By detection of enterotoxin in feces.
It may also be diagnosed in a blood test



Symptoms and Complications

  • Causes the breakdown of normal plasma membrane permeability properties.
  • Nausea, Vomiting, Intestinal cramps, pronounced diarrhea.
  • Most symptoms occur around 12 hours after eating the meal.
  • You can possibly die but in the majority of cases you will just experience bad diarrhea.
