General Information
- Anaerobic, form spores, it is a bacteria that causes life threatening gas gangrene and mild enterotoxaemia in humans.
- Produces many different enzymes as well a toxins that are responsible for the severe myonecrotic lesions.
- Type A food poisoning.
Diagnosis
How?
By detection of enterotoxin in feces.
It may also be diagnosed in a blood test
Who?
ANYBODY!
Symptoms and Complications
- Causes the breakdown of normal plasma membrane permeability properties.
- Nausea, Vomiting, Intestinal cramps, pronounced diarrhea.
- Most symptoms occur around 12 hours after eating the meal.
- You can possibly die but in the majority of cases you will just experience bad diarrhea.
