A Resource for Families, Week of April 27th
Dear Families,
Welcome to Week 7! Our topic this week is weather. We appreciate the feedback you provided on the adjustments we made in the Smore last week and will continue with the same structure and format this coming week.
We know everyone is navigating new situations right now. I can speak for all our staff when I share that we continue to struggle with not seeing your children in-person each day. There is something special about being able to interact with the children while together in the same space and I know I certainly took that for granted prior to this time. While our roles have always been to support your child's growth, we also learn so much from and are "filled up" by them.
If your child has not been regularly interacting with his or her teachers through e-mail or Zoom calls, I would encourage you to consider this. The interaction does not have to be about school work or technology, it can simply be to say "hello" and perhaps share something they have been doing while they have been away from the school building. Children can send short emails or write in a Google Doc and share it with any of the adults they know from school. In addition to a great writing opportunity, it continues to build connections for all of us during a time when these connections seem more important than ever.
Children (and adults) can experience many feelings during this time of uncertainty. This is completely normal. We also know our physical, mental, and emotional well-being is so important. If you or your child needs any support during this time, please reach out to your child's teacher or one of our school psychologists or counselor. Their contact information can be found by clicking the "Supports and Enrichments" button below and then clicking on the "Counseling Connection" button. We are a community and want to support each other!
We think about you and your children often and are looking forward to when we can all be together again!
With Great Appreciation,
Jen Check
