Dear Madera Families,
It has been an amazing school year. Your children have grown by leaps and bounds! I have felt so blessed this year to be a part of watching them learn and grow! I appreciate your partnership as we worked together to create an environment of engagement. Thank you for a beautiful year!
On the last day of school, our students will meet in the quad for the countdown and at the bell will be walked to the gate by their teachers to meet you.
To our 5th graders, I wish you much success in your next adventure in middle school. Congratulations on your completion of elementary school!
I look forward to seeing all our returning students and families on August 10th for the first day of school!
Have an amazing, fun-filled, and safe summer!

Community Resources and Events
Shelter and Food Resources
Meals for June: The June Dinner Site Calendar is attached. This is available to all families in need. Samaritan Center also serves breakfast and lunch. Families can use their showers as well but need to meet with a caseworker at Samaritan Center to set this up.
Food Pantries: Samaritan Center and Still Waters Cafe continue to serve as our local food pantries.
Eat, Learn & Play (Summer Program): Free lunch is available at Rancho Simi Community Park from June 6 - July 27. Lunch is provided to anyone 18 years and younger. Our amazing Child Nutrition Department is partnering with Simi Valley Library and Simi Valley Parks and Recreation for this program. These agencies will also advertise the program and bring activities: reading, music and a variety of fun activities
Devices K-3rd
Current Kindergarten through 3rd grade student devices will be maintained in the classroom carts for the summer. They will be redistributed to students in August when they return. Students do not need their device for summer school as they will be provided on location. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's device, please contact the office.
Message from the Simi Police Click it or Ticket Campaign
This year’s Click It or Ticket campaign is from May 22-June 4. During this time, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office will have additional officers on patrol actively looking for drivers and passengers who are not wearing a seat belt. This includes vehicles where children are not secured in child safety seats.
“Wearing a seat belt should be an automatic for all drivers and passengers,” Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Captain Matthew Young said, “It’s the safe thing to do, especially when it comes to securing children in child safety seats.”
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 12,000 people killed in crashes throughout the country in 2021 were not wearing seat belts. In California, 756 people killed in crashes in 2020 were not wearing seat belts, or nearly 20 percent of all traffic deaths statewide.
California law requires a child to be secured in a safety or booster seat until they are at least 8 years old or at least 4 feet, 9 inches tall. Children under the age of 2 must ride in a rear-facing seat unless the child weighs 40 or more pounds or is 40 or more inches tall.
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
