Expedition Launch!

We've launched our problem for our fall expedition! We will spend the next 9 weeks exploring, reading, thinking, and working to solve this problem:

Chemistry plays a role in just about everything, from cooking food to fighting diseases and many professionals use it everyday in their work. Yet, many students don’t experience enough chemistry early in school to prepare them for advanced science classes necessary for these careers.

How can we use our understanding of chemistry to expand D.C. students’ early access to this branch of science?

Khan Academy and Google Accounts

We have officially begun using our google accounts in school. Each student has a Two Rivers email address and password that they will be using in school for collaborative work through google drive.

These email addresses have also been set up in Khan Academy. Students may use their google account to access Khan Academy at school or at home. If you are interested in tracking your student's progress you can CLICK HERE for directions on setting up your own parent account and adding your child to your coaching list. Please note, you will need to link to their school account email address as a coach if you want to see their progress on our goals.

If you would like your child's email address and/or password please send me an email at

Art Club

One of our students, the lovely Ms. Beatriz, has spearheaded a movement to create an optional Art Club during recess. Interested students were able to sign up, and now we could use your help! Do you have gently loved art supplies at home that you would be interested in donating? We're looking for things beyond the regular crayons and markers, maybe slightly used water color sets, barely used coloring books, craft sets, or anything fun that we could add to our art club bin. If you have any donations please just send them to school and specify they are for Ms. Katie's Art Club.
