Oster's Distance Learning Support Center

I am excited to report Oster's Distance Learning Support Center is up and running safely and successfully. Because of our success, I am in the process of preparing to open a 3rd cohort.

If you are interested in having your student attend, please read through our Information Packet linked here and the information below for specifics and requirements. After reading through the terms and agreements you are still interested in having your child(ren) attend, please fill out the google form linked here.

Here are some basics for our next session:

  • Space Priority: Cohort 3 will have 12 spaces available. If more than 12 students register the eligibility will be by lottery.
  • Times: 8:00 am-11:30am (Monday-Friday)
  • Location: Oster School
  • Students must attend daily. This is not a drop-in session.
  • Cost: Free to Oster Students Grades K-5 (Currently not open to TK students)

*Special Note about Oster's Support Center: It is important to note the center will facilitate access to, and help support students with their distance learning. Your student will still be distance learning with their teacher via zoom and supported in person by an activity leader.

USD Reopening Plan

Recently there has been a lot of media coverage around schools reopening. As a result, I've received some questions regarding a date for when USD students will return to in-person learning. As of now, there is no new information to report other than what Superintendent Denise Coleman shared in her September 28th community message (linked below).

However, on October 12th at 6:00 pm, she will present an update of the district's Reopening Plan to the Board of Trustees and community. If you are interested in viewing the Board meeting click on the following link for more information:

We Need Your Feedback!

Your opinion and feedback are very important to us. If you haven't done so already please take a quick moment to fill out this distance learning survey, one for each of your children by Friday, October 9th. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes, and we do appreciate your time.
Parent Survey on Distance Learning

We want to hear your feedback on how distance learning is going for your student.

Oster's Math Olympiad Team Receives Highest Honors!

In August, Oster's Math Olympiad Team received a plaque honoring them with the highest team achievements. Though the final tournament was canceled due to COVID-19, the team was challenged periodically during the school year with 5 timed exams. Oster was found to be in the top 10% of almost 3000 schools participating in the Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS)!

I would like to thank the volunteers for spending their time teaching and reviewing homework and Mrs. Yu for allowing them to use the library for after school practice. Additionally, I would like to thank the parents for helping their children tackle these challenging concepts.

Help support HSC and Oster School

Thank Oster's Hard Working Teachers!

Oster HSC invites you to participate in our yearly Staff Appreciation project. Last year we asked families to donate snacks and drinks and notes of encouragement to have in the staff room. It was a huge success, and so appreciated by all of our Oster staff! This year we would like to continue that tradition, but on a more distanced level. We are asking families to click the link HERE to access the Oster Spirit Store and donate funds using the Staff Appreciation purchase button. This money will be used just like last year, but we will do the shopping for you! Let’s show our appreciation to the Oster Staff!

Be sure to check out the Oster HSC website for our October Newsletter!

Teaching Children How to Stay Safe and Healthy

Our District Nurse has compiled some excellent resources for families that are good reminders for all of us to stay safe and healthy. View the flyer for a collection of resources and videos to review the importance of handwashing, wearing a face covering, staying home when you're sick, and additional information for parents and guardians in supporting your child.
