When Harold was working he realized that they were waisting way to much paint.The electrostatic spray painting process is based on the electrostatic laws, unlike charges attract. If they can make the paint positive and the object negative they will attract more easily. Electrostatic spray painting is a more uniform coat of paint that saves paint and reduces material costs.

How electrostatic spray paint works.

Electrostatic spray paint leaves the gun passing through a high voltage positive needle leaving the paint particles positive. Since these particles are positive they will repel and cover more space. The material that is then getting sprayed is given a high negative charge. Referring back to the electrostatic laws, unlike charges attract. Another way of using electrostatic spray painting is by making the paint particles negative and the object positive. They are still unlike charges meaning that they will stil attract. Therefore the paint and the object will stick together strongly. Now the paint and the object will dry and stick together for a longer period of time.

why is electrostatic spray painting better then normal spray painting?

Electrostatic spray painting is more efficient then normal spray painting in two ways. The electrostatic laws say that like charges will repel, therefore when the paint droplets are positive they repel each other because they are trying to get as far away as possible from one another. Since the paint particles are repelling they are covering more of the object then normal. This is saving paint while using it more efficiently. Also the object that you are now spraying on is negative so the positive paint particles will attract to the object. Unlike charges attract, so the paint will instantly attract the object and not get over all of the walls and other materials. This is also saving paint and using it more efficiently.
