Chaplain's Chatter: Thoughts, Reflections and Musings from the Catholic Chaplain
Greetings Everyone,
This Sunday, September 21, is the United Nations International Day of Peace. Pope Francis has asked all Catholics to pray for peace throughout our world. In a world that is plagued by war, violence and terror we are called to remember that as Christians we are people of hope. We believe that true and lasting peace is indeed possible! As a sign of solidarity and hope, I invite you to pray the following prayer for peace written by St. John Paul II:
"O God, Creator of the universe, who extends your paternal concern over every creature and guides the events of history to the goal of salvation, we acknowledge your love when you break the resistance of humankind and, in a world torn by strife and discord, you make us ready for reconciliation.
Renew for us the wonders of your mercy: send forth your Spirit that She may work in the intimacy of hearts, that enemies may begin to dialogue, that adversaries may shake hands and peoples may encounter one another in harmony.
May all commit themselves to the sincere search for true peace which will extinguish all arguments, for charity which overcomes hatred, for pardon which disarms revenge.
Amen"
THIS Sunday, our 7:00PM Mass will end with a candle light procession from the Chapel to the Peace Pole located between the Shults Center and the Library. Hope you can join us!
Peace,
~ Jamie
