A Message from our Assistant Principal.......
Happy New Year! We were so glad to see all of the Bears' sweet faces, bright and early Tuesday morning. We hope that everyone had a great restful holiday season.
Huge thank you to Greg Rice and all of the moms and dads that came out for our Watch D.O.G.S. and M.O.D. squad sign-up night. We had several people volunteer and we can’t wait for them to come spend some time with the bears. If you were not able to make it, you too can sign-up to spend a day hanging out with the coolest kids on the planet. The link below will take you to the Sign-up Genius with all of the dates that are available.
Just a reminder that you must complete a background check before you volunteer as a Watch D.O.G.S or M.O.D. Squad. That link can also be found below.
Have a great weekend!
BEARy best wishes...
-Mrs. Halligan

A Message from Nurse Abby.....
Happy New Year!!!!
I hope you had a wonderful break! The attached link was shared with me, and I thought it had great information to help you understand lice. The new research shows that over the counter lice treatments are ineffective, and recommends calling your pediatrician for a prescription, and combing the hair is still a must. Please take the time to read the below information.
An Entomologist's Perspective on Lice --http://bexarento.blogspot.com/2018/12/an-entomologists-perspective-on-lice.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BexarCountyEntomology+%28Bexar+County+Entomology%29
Please remember to send a refillable water bottle to school with your child, and don’t forget your flu shot!

A Message from our School Counselor......
Happy Friday Bears!
Welcome back! I hope you all had a relaxing and much needed break. It was so great seeing all the smiles enter the building this past Tuesday. It was good to relax, but great to be back and in a routine. Let's rock 2019 the Birmingham Bear way!!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found is full and the weather is cold! Please have your child look through the lost and found next week for any items that may be missing. All items not claimed by next Friday, January 18th will be donated.
With that in mind, please make sure you put your child's FIRST and LAST name VISIBLY somewhere on the item. This makes it easier for our Wylie Way Ambassadors to get those labeled items back to their owners. 3/4 of the items in the lost and found are not labeled!
Parent Volunteers
We would love to have parent volunteers to help us prepare and decorate for our Wylie Way Day the week of January 28-February 1. We need help with copies, preparing lesson supplies, and decorating. There will be a sign up genius going out next week, so start thinking of ways to help.
Safety Patrol
We are looking for about 10 more 4th graders to join our Safety Patrol team. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Ray!
Current Safety Patrol Members- Please make sure you are here for you scheduled time. If it is cold or bad weather, you are to open the school doors for students to welcome them in. If you are unable to do Safety Patrol, please let me know. It is okay if it is not working out, but we just need to know. The next group is:
December 17-January 18- Safety Patrol (Green Group)
January 22-February 8- Safety Patrol (Red Group)
February 11-March 1- Safety Patrol (Blue Group)
March 4- March 29 (Green Group)
Upcoming Wylie Way Dates:
Wednesday, February 6- Wylie Way Day. " Journey to the Mountaintop"- Wear your plaid!
Have a fabulous weekend!!
