March 26, 2020 EPASD Update
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Greetings. We hope all is well with you as we continue to navigate these unprecedented times with a mandated school closure. As of now, the closing is expected to remain in effect through our Spring Break (School will be closed for Spring Break as scheduled). We will re-open our doors on April 14, 2020 pending there are no additional closures issued by Governor Wolf.
During this time of uncertainty, we have worked diligently to develop the East Pennsboro Area School District’s plan to provide all students “Continuity of Education” during this prolonged school closure. We believe that it is important that all students have the opportunity to develop and maintain skills while away from the typical school environment. We believe that we can achieve this goal by engaging students in lessons that will continue reinforce or extend students’ prior learning through the plan outlined below.
Monday, March 30, 2020 through April 14, 2020
- Teachers will send and encourage students to participate in enrichment and review lessons online
- Students that are at risk of failure for the school year at the end of the 3rd marking period will be provided with opportunities to improve grades through make up work, remediation, any other activities deemed appropriate.
- Case Managers will be in touch with families with more details for students who require specialized support during this time frame.
If you responded to the technology survey that your student(s) needs a device to connect to the internet please look for specific guidance from your building principals or administrative staff over the next week.
Please understand that under these circumstances, the educational experiences of our students will look very different. The modes in which instruction is delivered will be different from what our teachers are accustomed to. Flexibility is the key concept for all of us to embrace in this time of uncertainty. We know that there may be a learning curve for teachers, students, and families as we utilize online learning tools to provide instruction. We want to ensure that you know that we are here to support the students, families and community during this time as best we can!
We look forward to getting back to school in the future. We’re all in this together and together we’ll make the best of it and get through it!
