A Note from Principal Reilly

Greetings Hamline Families! I can't believe it is February already and that we are more than half way through the school year. Teachers just finished up the mid-year reading testing, which helps us identify how students have grown from the beginning of the year, and also helps us plan targeted instruction to best support learning. It is always wonderful to see the growth each child is making! Please continue to have your child read each night at home for at least 15 minutes. This is one of the most powerful ways to improve reading skills.

If you didn't hear it from your child, Pajama Day was a big hit. Each month we have set one day aside to promote school spirit. See below for all the fun we have planned. It was also great to see all the parents, grandparents, and family members attend our January assembly. Each month a different grade level will have something fun planned to perform.

I want to make sure you are aware of two dates coming up. On February 10th it is National African American Parent Involvement Day. This is always a special day to join as a community to celebrate who we are and share our stories. We welcome all families to join us on this day to hear from our Hamline University partner president, Dr. Fayneese Miller at 9:00am, visit your child's classroom, and eat lunch with your child. Hope to see you here. On February 20th we will be holding our annual Open House. This is a school event to not only have fun with our current families, but also welcome new families. We can't wait to see you there!

In Partnership,

Principal Reilly
