Pinehill School Newsletter
Wednesday 1st June 2022
Message from our Principal
Kia ora tatou,
We started the week with a beautiful Mihi Whakatau to welcome our 16 new students to Pinehill School, their families and the 6 student teachers we have with us this term. This is the first whakatau we have been able to have in almost one year due to previous restrictions and settings. I was very proud of our Pinehill students who sang with great enthusiasm and our Kapa Haka Group who have only come together this term and were a delight to listen to and watch with their singing and dancing.
To our new families and students, welcome to Pinehill School.
Medicines Policy
As the cooler weather sets in we are noticing some students bringing medication to school. Please note that the school will only administer prescription medication to students whose parents have made a formal request. Parents/caregivers need to complete a medicine authority form.
Please see our medicines policy which can be found alongside all our school policies on https://pinehill.schooldocs.co.nz/

Staff Update
Our lovely Rochelle Mabon has resigned and will not be returning to Pinehill following her term 2 refreshment leave. She has decided to leave the teaching profession to pursue other endeavours.
Although for us this is sad, and we will miss Rochelle, I commend her for taking a risk, using and developing her skills in a new pursuit. I can't wait to hear about her journey and we wish her all the best.
We will hold a farewell assembly for both Meri Kenrick and Rochelle Mabon on the last day of term, Friday 8th July at 1:45pm. We invite parents and the community to join us to say goodby and to wish both Meri and Rochelle all the very best ahead.
Long Weekend Ahead
Next week is a short school week with Monday 6th June being the Queen's birthday public holiday. We hope you all enjoy the long weekend ahead and look forward to seeing the children again on Tuesday 7th June.

SchooI Board Parent Election 2022
Nomination round
Our school will be undertaking a parent election for 3 School Board vacancies. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday 15th July 2022.
We have employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination form and full instruction on how to place your nomination into our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you if we have your email address in our database or you will receive it by post if we don’t have your email in our database.
Nomination papers will also be available at the school office. The school will send those on to CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.
Nominations close on Friday 5th August at 12 noon.
We look forward to your participation in this process.

WALKING SCHOOL BUS - HOT MILO MORNING
The WSB mascot visited us on Tuesday. Our WSB kids enjoyed hot milo and yummy cookies, and had a lot of fun playing with the mascot!
A walking school bus is just like a school bus except children walk to and from school under the supervision of adult volunteers (often parents).
If your child is interested in joining the walking school bus, please talk to the school office and fill out the consent form.
We would also like to hear from parents who have children living towards East Coast Road or the eastern end of Spencer Road who would be interested in being part of a Walking School Bus along Spencer Road. Even if you can only commit to one day a week, that is fine. Could any interested parents please contact Mr Rogers at alastair@pinehill.school.nz
Happy Walking!
