Motivation-How do we get kids to care?
This week in collaborations, the topic of getting kids to care was brought up. How do we do this? How do we motivate kids to care that they do well in school? Many are not coming with any intrinsic motivation. Back in the day, many of our parents motivated us to care in various ways that parents do not embrace now. So, it' up to us! I challenge you to continue to brainstorm and talk with your teams about motivational techniques, incentives, and activities that ignite the fire in our children's brains. The STEAM activities totally get them motivated. I am open to any school-wide ideas for motivation. I have been on the roof before, I am willing to dress up in something...if that's what floats the kids' boat...but maybe we need to ask the kids what motivates them to want to learn? How can we tap into that? I loved this video below about a teacher in North Carolina where he knew he had to motivate his students to achieve. Enjoy!
