School Climate Coordinator
Hello Gwynedd Square families,
My name is Mr. Foley and I am the School Climate Coordinator for the 2022 - 2023 school year. I am extremely excited to be joining this wonderful school community and look forward to further building a climate of positivity at Gwynedd Square.
In my role, I will be supporting students and families with any behavioral concerns, student work, and reinforcing positive behaviors all throughout the school.
Additionally, I am focused on supporting teachers with implementation of Second Step, our Social-Emotional Learning program to discuss and develop positive social and emotional skills.
Finally, I will help support the launch of PBIS at Gwynedd Square this year to regularly reward and recognize students who display positive behaviors and make strides in their social-emotional growth.
I will be at Gwynedd Square every day and you are welcome to reach out to me with any questions/concerns so I can provide you and your family with a positive experience at our school!

Suzuki and Beginner Strings
Hello Gwynedd Square Families,
Our students in grades K, 1, and 2 in the North Penn School District have the unique opportunity to participate in “Suzuki Method” violin classes.
The “Suzuki Method” was developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki in Japan. He based his approach on the belief that musical ability is not an inborn talent, but an ability that can be developed. Anyone can learn to play the violin in the same way that one learns their native language – by imitation.
Children learn to speak by listening and imitating the language spoken around them. By listening to recordings of the literature they will learn, children absorb the language of music just as they do the sounds of their mother tongue. This is called the “Mother Tongue Approach.” Not only do children learn to play the violin, they develop invaluable skills that relate to all areas of their learning such as improved perseverance, concentration, discipline, memory skills, and self esteem.

Beginner Strings Registration
Students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be able to register to join our String Program as beginners starting NEXT WEEK! The North Penn School District believes that instrumental music is a vital part of any well-rounded education. Not only do students learn a love of music, but they develop invaluable skills that impact all other areas of their learning during their time in North Penn. Keep an eye on your email for more information coming soon.
If you would like to learn more about our String Program, you can attend our annual MEET THE STRING INSTRUMENTS NIGHT held at North Penn High School on September 19th at 7 PM. Bring your child - they will have the opportunity to try out all of our string instruments to see which one they like the best!
Thank you.

Home and School Meeting
Our first H&S meeting of the year is Wednesday, September 28th at 6:30 pm in the school cafeteria. Come, meet the board, hear about plans for this year, and share your ideas. H&S: Green Folders Coming Home This Week
Our annual Green Folder initiative will be sent home this week. This folder provides you with information about Home and School as well as registration for the association, Spanish club, the school directory, and tickets to the Back to School block party.
Every family must fill out the school directory form each year - the previous year's entries are not carried forward. You can also fill out this form online (preferred). Completed forms and payments are due Friday, September 23rd. Use the enclosed envelope to return payments with your student's name written on the front and place it in the green folder to return to school.
