Note from Dr. Bartlett Re: Safety at Lone Star
Parents,
We are continuously working to balance providing a warm, welcoming environment for visitors with a safe & secure campus for your children.
We appreciate YOU:
Keeping your children safe is a responsibility we hold seriously, and we appreciate your support of our district and campus practices. If you have further questions about procedures at our school, please reach out to me or to Ms. Lout, our assistant principal. I'm including a link below that I shared on our campus Facebook page this week. It has excellent points for discussing tragedies with your children of all ages.
We are continuously working to balance providing a warm, welcoming environment for visitors with a safe & secure campus for your children.
We appreciate YOU:
- Being patient while we buzz you in through our controlled access system - our interior doors are locked throughout the day.
- Bringing in your license so we can check in visitors through our V-soft system - it is how we review who may be near our students.
- Ending the morning goodbye in the car or our foyer - so that our teachers are focused on children in the hallway at the start of each day.
- Walking your tardy students in - we do not want students dropped off, unattended.
- Staying off your phone and in your lane at car rider - it is how we keep our children safe until they are buckled in, because the "straggle" is real.
- Eating lunch at the visitor table - it is how we manage adult interaction with your child when you are not here.
- Respecting that playgrounds are for staff, students, & WatchDOGS only - so that children can play freely.
- Setting up an appointment when you need to visit with a staff member - we are not fans of surprises.
- Supporting our MISD police department - they visit our campus several times a day and at all events.
- Understanding that a variety of drills calmly happen throughout our school year - this helps our staff review procedures, responsibilities, and verbiage.
- Remembering how much we care about your kids and want them to be safe & successful - we love smiles and can never get enough of those.

Habit 3: Put First Things First
It happens day in and day out, moment-by-moment. It deals with many of the questions addressed in the field of time management. But that's not all it's about. Habit 3 is about life management as well--your purpose, values, roles, and priorities.
