Dear Braintree Families,
We had a fun week filled with gratitude. Students enjoyed a Thanksgiving lunch feast on Thursday and we celebrated with an all school assembly on Friday. I included Ms. J's recipe for Maple Syrup Brussels Sprouts below.
OSSD school district will be hosting vaccination clinics on 12/16 and 1/5. Theses clinic will be held at Randolph Elementary school. Bussing will be provided. If this would work for your family, please sign up through the VT Department of Health website at: https://vermont.force.com/events/s/selfregistration
While we encourage families to vaccinate, we understand that may not work for all. For those who are not yet vaccinated, we will begin offering Test to Stay for students who are identified as a close contact. This is an opt-in program. Opt-in here.
Just a reminder that school is closed for students next week. Classes will resume on Monday, November 29. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving Feast
Farm to School Taste Test Recipe
On November 18th we enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast at Braintree School. The menu included the Brussels Sprouts we grew and harvested here on campus as part of our Farm to School Program. Here is the recipe:
Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Maple Syrup
2 lbs. Brussels sprouts
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2-3 tablespoons maple syrup
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Trim the stems of the sprouts. Remove any outer leaves that are wilted. Cut the sprouts in half.
Add the Brussels sprouts, oil, salt, and pepper to a large bowl. Toss to fully coat the sprouts.
Spread the sprouts onto a large baking sheet in a single layer.
Roast for 15 minutes.
Stir the sprouts, trying to flip over as many as you can.
Roast for 10 more minutes.
Drizzle the maple syrup over the sprouts and stir to coat.
Roast for 8-10 more minutes.
All School Assembly & Gratitude Chain
Ms. Robinson's 2/3 class led the all school assembly on Thursday, November 19. We shared announcements, shout outs, and songs.
Students in Ms. Richard's 1/2 class shared items they would bring on a long boat trip like the Mayflower trip. Each item was precious to them and included food, pets, blankets, and pillows.
Test to Stay
Test to stay is an opt-in program for unvaccinated individuals who are identified as close contacts of an in-school positive case. These individuals may continue to attend school if they remain symptom free and take a rapid COVID test (negative result) each morning before entering school until seven days since exposure have elapsed. To opt-in, parents must confirm consent through the following internet link:
https://www.cognitoforms.com/VermontAgencyOfEducation/SY22COVID19TestingProgramConsentForm
Those who do not opt-in to the program (and are also unvaccinated) must quarantine at home, take a PCR test (negative result) on day seven of quarantine, and be cleared by a COVID Coordinator before returning to school. Vaccinated children do not need to quarantine if they are symptom free.
Upcoming Vaccination Clinics
The sign up is done through the VT Department of Health website at: https://vermont.force.com/events/s/selfregistration
There will be not cost to families for students to participate in this vaccine clinic.
