A Note From Mrs. Waters
We will be going on a field trip on Monday, January 29 to the Al Khor Animal Park as a part of our new science unit. Your child should bring a water bottle, a snack, and a lunch (we will not buy food). They should come to school wearing sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes and bring their backpack to carry their lunch.
On Sunday, we will be sending home the first grade Valentine’s Day Project. We are having students write each other notes for Valentine’s Day with messages about what they like about each other. We will provide all of the supplies and suggested comments to write to one another. The notes are due on Wednesday, February 14th, which is the day we will have our Valentine’s party. This is a fun activity for first grade. Students work on their writing and write kind notes to one another. It can be challenging to find pre-made Valentine’s Day cards in Doha, so this is a great alternative. Students are welcome to decorate the notes for their friends. They can also include a small treat if they wish. Please see the packet that will come home on Sunday. This project will take the place of most homework in the coming weeks. Thank you for helping your child plan ahead and do a few Valentine’s Day notes each day rather than leaving them all to the end.
In math next week, we will begin Unit 4: Place Value, Comparison, and Addition within 40. Please read the attached parent letter about the unit.
Below you will see what we will be working on in our class next week, information from the office and other important dates.
