Maple Syrup Demonstration Field Trip
Students in grades 1-3 were invited to Jim and Kris Mineau’s house for a demonstration on how to collect sap for making maple syrup. Jim Mineau instructed the students on tree identification, the role of temperature on sap production, tools used, methods of collecting sap, and products made from maple syrup. After that, the kids got to go into the woods and tap a tree and collect the sap. The students were rewarded with a dish of ice cream smothered with maple syrup. Once back at school, Kris Minea presented the students with an "all about maple syrup" learning folder and reviewed the day's learning.

Shown in the pictures are two students working on an Easter egg hunt, where they had to open the egg, and write the corresponding word. This activity allowed students to move around the classroom, use their fine motor skills, and practice writing their letters.
We also see a student using linking cubes to measure different pictures of flowers, and a student practicing building a sentence based on what they see in a picture.
