Hallinan Elementary
Hawk Squawk 6/2/22
Principal's Message
It's June and there are only 6 days of school left - how is that even possible? Hallinan will be a flurry of activity next week as we prepare for the end of the school year: Field Day, End of Year Celebrations and saying goodbye to our 5th graders. We hope you'll be here to join us!
If you happen to be at school next week, please stop by "Lost and Found". As you can probably guess, we've accumulated a whole new batch of sweatshirts and jackets that we'd love to return to their proper owners. All lost and found items left at Hallinan will be donated on 6/13.
Have a great weekend!
Melissa Griffiths

The kids have worked so hard to plant the garden with lovely flowers, fruits, and vegetables - help us keep it going over the summer! We're looking for families to volunteer for week-long shifts to water, weed, and harvest. A Sign-Up Genius will be going out soon, in the meantime please reach out to Britt Marra at brittmarra@gmail.com if you're interested in helping out.

2022-23 Verification
LOSD needs parents/guardians of all students enrolled for the 2022-23 school year to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:
- Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
- Confirming parent email addresses for Google Classroom and other applications to participate in your student's learning.
- Enabling distribution of key information in the district's K-12 Family Handbook.
If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, go to the login page, click "I am a Parent," then click "Forgot Password." For assistance with the verification process, refer to the user guide on the LOSD website. If you are unsure whether you have a ParentVUE account, or need assistance, please contact the office staff (contact information at the bottom of the newsletter).
State Assessment Score Reports
- An achievement level of 3 or 4 is considered to be on track for the student’s grade level.
- Scores on state assessments are only one measure of a student’s academic progress. We use these scores in conjunction with classroom work and other daily, weekly, monthly, and term assessments to understand your student’s strengths and areas for improvement.
Champions STEAM Champ Camp
Beginning July 5 and throughout the summer, Lake Grove will be hosting the Champions STEAM Champ Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Kids will team up with friends to solve head-scratching problems and complete spy-worthy quests that stretch their understanding of different people and places. Campers will also practice STEAM skills through hands-on activities, create inspiring art and discover new things about themselves and the world around them. The weekly registration fee is $75 per child. For more information and other summer programming visit the Community School website. You can reach the STEAM camp registration page by clicking here.
