Celebrating Success
Each month, a school features a program or event that involves its students and staff. Lindsay Major, Daniel Wright’s Digital Arts Teacher described the program and showcased student work. Two students shared how the program allowed them to express their creativity through digital artwork.
Transportation Update
Nine drivers have recently been hired by Transportation Director Anthony Mendoza to fully staff the transportation department. The new staff are finishing their training, becoming familiar with their routes, and are expected to transport students following winter break. With the hiring of new drivers, some outsourced routes can now be operated internally and all students who were on a waitlist for transportation will be able to ride the bus starting in January.
Budget Projections
Patrick Palbicke, Assistant Superintendent for Business, presented the Board with budget projections for the 2024-2027 school years including the assumptions used to build out future years. The budget process occurs from January through June each year. Following Mr. Palbicke’s presentation, the Board approved the district to prepare the budget for the 2024 fiscal year.
Levy Update
The board approved the authorization of a supplemental levy to pay for the principal and interest on outstanding limited bonds issued by the district. This levy adds the consumer price index as a multiplier to the district’s Debt Service Extension Base and is applied to current bonds outstanding. This is done annually each December.
