May Happenings

It is hard to believe we are in our final six weeks of the school year! This has been a great year and we appreciate your continued support.

Below are upcoming events:

May 13 - 8th Grade Reading STAAR Retest- 2nd administration

May 14 - KMS Orchestra Concert at 6:00 (more info to follow)

May 18 - KMS Choir Concert (more info to follow)

May 21 - Parent Night at KMS with K2 Speaker at 6:00 (see below)

May 25 - Memorial Day (No School)

May 29 - 6 week behavior incentive (Waterpalooza!)

Talent Show

The KMS Fine Arts Department is hosting the second annual Talent Show on Thursday, June 4 at 8:30 a.m. If your child is interested in trying out, please fill the tryout form and return by Tuesday, May 5 to a fine arts teacher. Tryouts will be on May 19, 20, and 21 from 3:30 - 5:00. Students interested in trying out will be assigned a date and time. Dress rehearsal is scheduled for May 28.

Beef Stick Fundraiser

Students are currently participating in a fundraiser selling beef sticks for $2.00 each. The fundraiser will end on May 8. Parents are welcome to prepay for a box for $48.00 each.

Great prizes will be offered if the student sells.....

One Box - your name goes in a drawing for a free box of beef sticks

Two Boxes - one movie pass to 4 Star Cinema

Three Boxes - one pass to Air U

Five Boxes - Get out of class for a PARTY!

This is a voluntary fundraiser that will help purchase additional incentives!

KMS Twirling Tryouts

KMS Twirling Tryouts for current 6th and 7th grade students will be at KHS on Friday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m. Twirl camp will begin on Monday, May 4 at 5:30 at Kilgore High School.

School Supply Packs

KMS is excited to offer our parents a stress free way to purchase school supplies. School supplies can now be ordered online for $55.00. The school supplies will be prepackaged with your child's name and can be picked up the week of August 18-22. We feel this is a way our parents can avoid the hassle of shopping and save time and money!

April 27 - June 12

Forms will also be send home with students and you can return the order form along with cash or check payment by Friday, May 29, 2015.

Spring Dance

The Student Council will be sponsoring the Spring Dance on Friday, May 8 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Students must present their school I.D. and it is $5.00 to enter. Drinks are 50 cents each.

Students that have been in AEC, DAEP, or suspended this semester will not be allowed to attend.

Final 6 Weeks Incentive

We love to reward students that do the right thing! Students that have maintained an A conduct grade for the final six weeks will be invited to attend our 6 Weeks Incentive, WATERPALOOZA, on Friday, May 29. They do not want to miss out!

Course Selection Sheets

Current 6th and 7th graders will be receiving their course selection sheets for the upcoming year. Please look over these carefully and select electives for the upcoming year and return no later than Tuesday, May 5.

Final Report Card

Final report cards will be mailed to your home address. Please ensure your mailing address is correct by checking Skyward Family Access.

One Stop Registration

Every year, parents must register their child and verify proof of residency. One Stop Registration will be at KHS on August 10 - 14, 2015. Please make plans in advance to attend, register, and show proof of residency. You may still register online, but you must present proof of residency at your student's campus or one-stop registration. Students will not receive their schedule or ID without this being done. Additional information with times included will be sent out.
