Support PTA Knights on the Run
Mark your calendars!! Knights on the Run is coming to Washington Wednesday, September 25 with a rain date of September 26. This all school fundraiser will provide a large portion of the PTA funds for the 2019 - 2020 school year.
Money raised will allow Washington PTA to provide school programs such as: Field Trips, Science Enrichment Programs, Art Smart, Cultural Arts Assemblies, Book Fairs, Field Day, Spring Fling, and so many others.
In the past, we funded many updates to Washington's library furniture to better meet the needs of our students. Our PTA is happy to be able to provide so much for our students. The library is used by every student on a daily basis. Our goal this year is to raise enough money to not only fund the above programs, but to again be able to donate money to Washington to finish our library project.
After September 4, additional information can be found on the PTA portion of the Washington website and information will be sent home via student’s backpacks.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Please partner with the Knights on the Run Committee to help make this another successful event! We need volunteers who can...
hand-out sticks to students for each lap they run
tally and record each student's sticks after the run
hand out a cool treat to each runner
cheer on the kids
If you are interested in helping at the event, click here and add your name to the Volunteer Sign-up. For more information about the event, please email us at WashingtonPTA200@gmail.com

Volunteers Needed
LLC Volunteers
Our library director, Mr. J.J. Babb, is looking for parent/grandparent volunteers who would be willing to check-in books, shelve them, and perform other clerical tasks to keep the LLC ready to serve students. Please contact him if you have some time to volunteer: joseph.babb@cusd200.org
Battle of the Books
Mrs. Jill Baer is running the Washington PTA Battle of the Books program this year. She is looking for parents to help during Battle meetings, Tuesday from noon until 1:00pm. Battle competitions begin this winter after school at the Wheaton Public Library. Battle is a great program for our 4th and 5th graders! If you are willing to help, please email Jill Baer at jbaerbooks@gmail.com
Shadow a PTA Pro
Mrs. Kathy Radojkovic currently performs several very important PTA duties. As her daughter is in 5th grade, this is Kathy's last year, so she is looking for parents willing to shadow and work with her this year on each task with the goal of passing the task on next year. If you are interestedin working with Kathy on any one of these duties (Pumpkin Decorating Contest, Health Screening Volunteer, or Veterans' Day Reception) this year, please contact her at chanelopee22@aol.com

Change in Drop-Off Time
Just as a reminder, the Wheaton Police asks that cars begin line up in the morning at 8:45am and 3:15pm. Cars lining up earlier and cars that are left unattended may be tickted. Please also take care to avoid blocking the driveways of our neighbors. Thank you for your cooperation!
Arrival and Dismissal
Bus Routes are posted on the Washington website: BUS ROUTES 2019-2020
Once arriving on school property, students should line up at their designated doors:
Kindergarten - Door 3 (west side of building)
1st grade - Door 4 (west side of building)
2nd grade - Door 4 (west side of building)
3rd grade - Door 6 (west side of building)
4th grade - Door 7 (courtyard north side of building)
5th grade - Door 8 - (northeast corner of building)
If you drop off or pick up your child by car, please familiarize yourself with the Flow Zone Procedures.
Also, please remember that it is illegal to pass a bus when it is loading or unloading children. There should be no car traffic at the front of the building during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. For the safety of our students, please follow our procedures and use the flow zone. Also, it is illegal to talk on a hand-held cell phone while driving. Doing so during arrival and dismissal greatly compromises the safety of our students. Please use the utmost caution when driving in the flow zone.
