Welcome to RCTCM
2017 Chemistry Tigers!!!
Ms. Pace's Chemistry Tigers
Welcome back to RCTCM. Get ready to begin your sophomore year in Chemistry. We will be studying the properties, composition, and structure of matter. Students will also learn how the atoms that make up matter interact and combine with each other to form new substances.
Keep informed and up to date with the "What's Happening?" in our Chemistry classroom by utilizing Remind.com to get information on upcoming projects and tests. Text @chemtig to the number 81010 or click on the following link https://www.remind.com/join/chemtig to join the 2017 Chemistry Tigers.
Let's have a Great year of learning and fun.

Sublimation
It is the process in which a solid substance turns directly into a gas without going through the liquid phase.
Dry Ice is Cold...
The orange balloon is filled with carbon dioxide from dry ice. The student blew up the pink balloon. Which one will fall to the ground first?
The winner is..
The balloon containing the much cooler carbon dioxide gas is heavier. It is more dense.
Separation of a Mixture
The Chemistry Tigers used a technique called paper chromatography to separate the components of a green dye. The chromatography paper was placed into a solvent. The solvent (alcohol) traveled up the chromatography paper and separated the chemicals that make up the mixture (green dye). Look at the student's strip of chromatography paper. Can you see the colors that make up the green dye?
