Hunting Ridge Hawk Happenings
End of Year 2021
We Made It!
How could we possibly put this year into words? We are so proud of our students, families, and staff for their effort to make a difference with our students each day!
As we close out one year, we are already preparing to start the new one. Mrs. Arenberg is making her way to her new school, Sanborn. We are welcoming Mrs. Friedman from Virginia Lake in her place. Come August, we will be excited to share new staff members that will be joining our school family.
Our office staff will be in the building during the summer weeks. There are two days when we will have extended hours until 7:00 PM to help provide families with more flexible times for registering. These days will be Tuesday, June 8 and Monday, June 14 until 7:00 PM. For the other days of summer, we will be in the building Monday - Thursday. Families that need to drop-off items, please call ahead in the event that someone is not there to answer the door. Should the office team be out of the office or on vacation, messages will be left on voicemail.
Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 4:15 PM
A very special thank you to Mrs. Lisa Corrao as our outgoing PTA President. She took on this position during unprecedented times and we are extremely grateful for her dedication and leadership.
Many parents continue to have questions about the upcoming school year related to COVID-19 guidelines. We can assure you that CCSD15 is actively watching the decisions of Governor Pritzker, the CDC, and the IDPH as they relate to school opening guidelines. Please check emails for ongoing communications from our district related to these important updates.
Enjoy your summer! We will see you soon!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ortlund
Meet Mrs. Friedman, Our New Assistant Principal
Hello Hunting Ridge Families!
I am so excited to join the Hunting Ridge family for the 2021-2022 school year. As Dr. Heinz shared in her correspondence to the community, I have spent the last two years as the Assistant Principal at Virginia Lake Elementary School. Prior to that, I was a 6th grade teacher at Marquardt Middle School in Glendale Heights and then a 7th grade teacher, Information Literacy Coach, and Instructional Coach in Wheeling School District 21. I live in Vernon Hills with my husband, Matthew, and two children, Braedyn (12) and Mason (10). I love to travel, sing, dance, swim, laugh, and entertain. Education is my passion and I love that I get to be a part of so many children’s learning experiences. I look forward to partnering with you in your student’s learning journey and can’t wait to meet you all.
Enjoy your summer and see you in August!
Mrs. Friedman
Chromebook Collections:
Current K-3 Students:
As the end of the school year approaches, please begin making preparations to return the District 15 issued Chromebook and charger. Each K-3 student will keep the protective case for future use. In the event that the Chromebook or charger has been damaged, you may be assessed a fee for repair or replacement.
If families were issued a hotspot, please bring the hotspot to return as well. If families have one hotspot for students at different schools, simply send the hotspot in with the oldest student. Hotspots were deactivated on May 28th.
Current 4-6th Grade Students:
Students in grades 4-6 will keep their Chromebooks, cases, and charging cords over the summer.
If a student will not be returning to District 15 in the fall, they will need to bring their Chromebook back to the school.
If students have a hotspot at home, it must be turned in at the school office.
If a Chromebook needs repair, please bring the device to the device to the school office for repair.
School Supply Kits - New System
District 15 has partnered with TeacherLists to make supply ordering convenient and customizable. Order when you want – no deadlines to worry about; select which retailer to use – you can even mix and match; add items you want more of; remove items you don’t need; choose pick-up or delivery (options vary by retailer); and more! It’s all up to you!
