WE are ALL-In Together!
Red Ribbon Week and MORE!
A reminder that next week is Red Ribbon Week. Please see below for lots of information about our week of celebrating good choices!
Lots of celebrations to share and opportunities to volunteer.
With cooler temperatures or wet mornings...less students will walk or ride their bikes to school.
Carpool drop off lines do get longer, especially after 7:40!
Encourage your child to pack their backpack the night before. Have clothes laid out and ready to start the day before bedtime. Then...perhaps set that alarm about 5-10 minutes earlier to allow for jackets and the additional cars in the carpool line.
Our building opens for breakfast at 7:00.
Ideally, if you plan for your child to be in the building at 7:30 there is plenty of time to get unpacked and ready for learning and you can avoid a long line!
With daylight savings time ending at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 3 students will begin waking to daylight and ready to get a head start on their day. It is a great time to take advantage of getting to school with a little less stress and a little more time.
Calling Volunteers!

Join us November 14th and 15th as we simulate Colonial life in the 1700's! We will need lots of hands on volunteers to help make Colonial Days a huge success and an event to remember for our kids.
Red Ribbon Week is Here!

Mathews Students Selected for Honor Choirs
5th Grade students Matilde Rodriguez-Glass and Sahana Venkat were selected by audition to represent Mathews Elementary in the Plano Children's Chorale. The PCC is a 5th grade only honor choir made up of exceptional students from across the district. These students meet and rehearse weekly and perform throughout the school year.
5th graders Pratheek Anne and Samaiya Miller and 3rd grader Diya Nair were selected by audition as members of the Children's Chorus of Collin County. They are a part of the Prelude Chorus composed of exceptional students in grades 3-5. They also meet and rehearse weekly and perform throughout the school year.
We are very proud of all our Musical Mavericks!

Mathews’ Student Council Trex Recycling Challenge
Starting November 1:
From November 1st – April 15th, Mathews’ Student Council will be hosting a plastics recycling challenge to promote environmental awareness. Please bring in clean, dry, and free of food residue plastics. Thank you for your participation and help!

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Kindness and Caring x 250!
It is also a wonderful time to teach children empathy and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Our can food drive will be the month of November. Coach B has some fun ideas of showing children how small acts of kindness can build something incredible when we work together!
Our goal is to donate 250 cans. This would be the equivalent of one can donation per family. We look forward to a drawing at the end of November to read to classes if we reach our school-wide goal. Just like our peanut butter campaign, this is not a competition between classes, but rather a celebration of our school community working and coming together to make a difference!
Thank you for participating has a family in this meaningful act of kindness. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to 'be the difference in the world.'
The can food drive will begin November 1 through November 22.
