The Journey of a White Female Teenager
Identity
I believe that I am a discplined child and student. Im very respectful to others and I speak my mind at home and at school. Im a sister and a daughter at home and I have amazing friends at school. I dress age appropriate and im always talking to others whethers its my family or my friends. I love sports, its was seems to ease any stress I have when ever I watch it, escepcially Hockey or Basketball. Im a very dedicated and hardworking person.
In the play Twelfth Night Olivia is a rich lady who is mourning over her dead brother and trying to win over Cesario. Olivia believes she is attractive but is confused as to why Cesario does not want her. "O, sir, I will not be so hard-hearted. I will give out divers schedules of my beauty. It shall be inventoried, and every particle and utensil labeled to my will" (I.v.216) pg. 12. This is showing how Olivia thinks she is so beautiful, that she would have children in order to have her beauty live on even when shes dead.
Gender
I believe since I'm female guys don't look at me and think I can play a sport They think i'm weak and brittle because im a girl. They dont take me seriously, and don't believe me when I say that I play basketball and watch sports a lot. Another thing is that females are supposed to look pretty and dressed up everyday for school, when I like to just wear hoodies and jeans everyday. Another negative is that guys believe that all girls love shopping and getting their nails done, when I love to go back into the woods and fish all day.
For Lady Olivia she is forced to act very formal and polite. But also she also must look presentable. She has benefits because since she is so beautiful, she has more power over men and servants. She is forced to act very proper, have manners and have good posture. Lady Olivia uses her looks to her advantage. Servants listen to here more and she has better control over them.
Perception
In my eyes I believe that my family looks down on me because im not as smart as my sister. They don't expect me to get straight A's like my sister. They think that most of the music I listen to is stupid and that I dont help out enough around the house. They pester me about being in my room a lot, which in reality I don't spend to much time in my room, they are at work and just assume ive been doing nothing
I Believe that other characters in Twelfth Night see Olivia as a rich and beautiful lady. Some may be jealous of her wealth. Many men in this story seem to have a huge crush on her because of her beauty. She is adored and pampered by her servants and many men. "Tis beauty truly blent, whose red and white Nature’s own sweet and cunning hand laid on. Lady, you are the cruel’st she alive If you will lead these graces to the grave
And leave the world no copy" (i.iv.213-217) pg. 12. This quote by Viola is saying that mother nature has blessed Olivia with an amazing face that she would be cruel if she did not have children.
