Religion: There was no religious freedom in the areas inhabited by the Puritans as they did not tolerate any other form of religion.
Economic Opportunities: Concentrated in manufacture and focused on town life and industries such as ship building and the manufacture and export of rum.
Government: In 1775 Connecticut was a charter colony .
History : In the towns along the coast, the colonist made their living fishing , whaling , and shipbuilding . Whale oil was a valuable resources as it could be used in lamps.
Thomas Hooker
inspired the "Fundamental Orders of Connecticut," which was one of the first written democratic constitutions that established a representative government.

The word "Connecticut" is taken from a Native Indian phrase meaning “river whose water is driven by tides or winds.”
Thomas Hooker was an outstanding speaker, also known as father of Connecticut. He inspired fundamental orders of Connecticut. Born July 5th 1586
