Why Comet Time?
THIS YEAR ... the initiative comes to the Secondary Campus as a dedicated period within each students schedule! Comet Time is based upon a Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTII) model of tiered supports. These supports are driven by student performance data to determine areas of need and intensity of interventions.

Let's get specific!
Should a student be absent for a few days, need to meet with a teacher to review a current topic, or to just ask their teacher questions that are longer than can be covered in class, the student can go get help in REAL TIME SUPPORT (RTS). Students simply ask for a pass from the teacher they want to see, and after checking in the FLR room, go and get the help they need!
Some kids will need an extra hand beyond RTS because their skills in math or reading need a boost. These students will be identified based upon standardized testing data and assigned TARGETED ACADEMIC SUPPORT (TAS) during Comet Time on either a day 1-3-5 rotation or a day 2-4-6 rotation. The days they are not in TAS, they will report to FLR to get their work done!
Lastly, some students need support to stay on track to graduate on time. These students, identified by standardized test scores, will be assigned GUIDED GRADUATION SUPPORT (GGS) during Comet Time on either a day 1-3-5 rotation or a day 2-4-6 rotation. The days they are not in GGS they will report to FLR to get their work done!
THE POINT IS ....
Comet Time gives students a chance to meet with teachers, get the support that they need, and stay on track for graduation!
Comet Time is where all kids get what they need ... and as Comet Time grows ... will be able to give where they can!
