DR. SEUSS SPIRIT WEEK!
FEBRUARY 26TH THRU MARCH 2ND!
Let the festivities begin! Read Across America is a week of celebrating the beloved Dr. Seuss character who motivated children to read and celebrated reading! Our spirit week is as follows and we encourage students to be creative and have fun!
Monday - Feb. 26th Sunglasses Day
Tuesday - Feb. 27th Crazy Sock Day
Wednesday - Feb. 28th Hat Day
Thursday - Mar. 1st Cowboy/Cowgirl or Camo Day
Friday - Mar. 2nd Dress as a Favorite Seuss Book Character
On Friday, any one who wishes to participate in our Dr. Seuss Cake Decorating contest must have their cakes delivered to the front office by 11:00 a.m. Cakes will be judged between noon-2:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. during our family night and then shared that evening. If you DO NOT want your cake cut, you must notify the office when dropping your cake off.

You'll want to mark your calendars for March 9th as a non-school day for students and the following week is Spring Break from March 12th thru March 16th. We'll see everyone return on Monday, March 19th ready to work hard and finish the year out strong!
Bee Buzz
Congratulations to the winner of the Snowshoe Spelling Bee: 5th grade student Sierra Boyer! Her winning word was cyclops. She won a trophy, a gift card donated by our wonderful PTA, and a subscription to Encyclopedia Britannica Online. Sierra will be representing our school in the statewide Spelling Bee on March 29th at the Sheraton Hotel Ballroom in Anchorage. Good luck Sierra! We are so proud of you!
Our runner up was Allison Brewer and our third place was Alevtina Reutov. Both of these ladies also received a trophy and a gift certificate from our PTA and finished strong!
Following is a list of all of the students who qualified for and/or participated in our bee. They studied hard for the past 2 months and deserve recognition for their efforts: Alex Potts, Hudson Duguid, Alevtina Reutov, Brooke Ficarra, Sierra Boyer, Gabe Martinez, Aiden Allen, Kierslyn Vaska, Myleigh Jenkins, Abby Garrod, Jayden Eagleman, Annabella Cannon, Wyatt Kays, Nathan Smith-Manasco, Aiden Oxereok, Wyatt Guidry, Brock Harris, Maddy Collins, Doris Rider, Elijah Raben, Rafael Parker, Joe Brown, Theron Bidney, Hayden Marie Clare, Allison Brewer, and Jaydi Pitcher.
We are proud of each and every one of them and hope they will participate again next year!

Help us celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday by joining us for an exciting evening of fun as we end our Snowshoe spirit week!
Families can expect activities such as Dr. Seuss Bingo, Kahoot! Dr. Seuss Trivia, a Storyteller, a Photo Booth, our Rock Wall, refreshments and winners will be announced from the CAKE CONTEST!!

Don't forget that this coming Friday is our KDG movie night! If you have ordered your pizza meal deal, these will be available for you on movie night. The doors open at 5:30 and the movie starts at 6:00 p.m.
Children must be accompanied by an adult, and everyone is welcome to attend. It's FREE!
SPRING PICTURE DAY!
Spring pictures are today. Flyers went home last week. All children will have their pictures taken. You can still order a class picture going to Lifetouch.com and entering our school code Ak217036GO to prepay online.
Once individual picture packets arrive, you'll be able to preview them before deciding whether to purchase them or not.

Did you know that the American Heart Association has invested more than $200 million over the past 50 years to support lifesaving heart research, and work to improve heart disease prevention and care? And Snowshoe students are doing their part to help!
Our Snowshoe JRFH Campaign runs from Feb. 23rd to Mar. 8th. A parent letter has been sent home explaining how our campaign will run. Thank you for supporting your child in this fundraising effort and the American Heart Association.
