Lincoln Middle School -- Weekend Update
Hello Lincoln Community,
We hope you had a great week! We have several updates for you to read through below, and we encourage you to read through everything.
Our 8th-grade students enjoyed the annual assembly featuring the Prospect Marching Knights this Thursday. The students had the pleasure of witnessing a fantastic performance and gained insights into upcoming opportunities at Prospect High School. Two photos are included below—one showcasing the entire marching band and the other highlighting members who graduated from Lincoln. It's noteworthy that many former Lions actively participate, underscoring our students' talents and the exceptional preparation our dedicated fine arts staff provided.
Below is a clip of the drumline performing at the end of the assembly. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
One last important detail we would like to highlight is that the Weekend Update will be sent out every other week beginning with this update. We hope you have an excellent three-day weekend, and we look forward to seeing the Lions on Tuesday!
In Partnership,
Eric Larson, Laena DiVito, and Jason Jonas

On October 15, at 7:00 pm, we will be emailing links to sign up for the conferences.

October is Bullying Prevention Month
In District 57, we take the prevention of bullying very seriously. All Kindergarten through 8th-grade students participate in weekly classroom meetings/advisory meetings to build classroom community and provide strategies for students on how to prevent/handle potential bullying situations. This is done, in part, using the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit. These instructional materials offer an opportunity for students to share their feelings and opinions, to suggest solutions, and to learn to follow the rules and handle bullying situations appropriately. It also builds class community and cohesiveness and recognizes the achievements and successes of the class as a whole.
We encourage any student or parent who is aware of a potential bullying situation to report the issue immediately to a staff member. This report will initiate an investigation. Whether or not the issue is found to be bullying, any behavior that does not follow school expectations will be addressed. We want all students to feel safe and comfortable during their time at school, and we are committed to removing barriers that are preventing this for individual students or groups of students. For more information on this topic, please visit this link.
Bullying is intentional physical, verbal, or social aggression. It’s often repeated over time and occurs when there’s a real or perceived power imbalance.
