Parent/ Student Edition ~ Issue 14 ~ Nov. 29 - Dec. 3, 2021
Principal's Message
As we celebrate this season of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to share with CHS families how thankful I feel to work alongside you and your children every day. CHS is a special place and I continue to count my blessings in getting to play a small part in the educational journey of so many. We hope that your families will be able to reflect on all of the things you are thankful for during this next week. November also celebrates family engagement month in our schools. We are excited to share a special video created by our students to thank our families for all that they do to support our schools. #bethelight

College & Career Corner ~ Education & Training - Career and Technical Pathway for December
At Calhoun College and Career Academy (CCCA), students have the opportunity to take Early Childhood Education or Teaching as a Profession, two different pathways in the Education and Training Program of Study. With a severe shortage of teachers expected in Georgia over the next several years,
Education and training workers guide and train people. As a teacher, you could influence young lives. You could also support the work of a classroom teacher as a counselor, media specialist, speech pathologist, or principal. You could coach sports activities or lead community classes.
You could also work with adults. For example, you could lead training to employees in a business. Or you could work as a university or college professor for undergraduate or graduate students.

Senior Scholarship Information
First, college in any setting is expensive! Colleges have a wide range of scholarships and we do not have a magic listing or go-to guide for all of the scholarships that are available. First, start with the college scholarship websites. Second, the internet is your friend so use it wisely. Lastly, utilize our scholarship links that are posted under the Students Tab (Scholarship Opportunities) on the Calhoun High School website. We have linked it here! Mrs. Arnold will continue to update this throughout the school year.
If you are using Mrs. Arnold's email address for college applications, PLEASE make sure you are using her arnoldk@calhounschools.org email address! This is the email address that is linked to Common App, UGA Portal, Coalition, Slate, etc. If a student has used her CCS Jackets email on their applications, please let her know. You will need to log into your application and change the email to arnoldk@calhounschools.org in order for us to receive notifications and complete.
