MARDI GRAS FEVER IS IN THE AIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE remember the WALK-A-THON! It's the main pre-mardi gras fund-raiser for Grade 3.
GENERAL REMINDERS
- MUSIC FIELD TRIP tomorrow, Monday, February 1. WEAR FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM.
- Parents please be reminded that all undershirts under uniform shirt must be white.
- ALL homework books and assignments should be signed and dated by parents.
- STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE 3-5 SHARPENED PENCILS FOR EACH SCHOOL DAY (this is a daily homework and should be a part of the packing routine). Sharpening pencils during class time is not allowed as sharpeners are not allowed.
- Each student should have a glue stick (we do a lot of cutting and pasting and the glue stick is easier to work with), crayons or colored pencils, scissors, and a big eraser. (The pencil erasers do NOT last long).
- There is no morning playtime children should proceed from the car directly to the classroom to begin bell-work.
- Parents please be reminded that lunch for warming should be precooked or a microwaveable spaghetti/soup in a plastic container. Noodles and Kraft dinners are discouraged by the school and cannot be accommodated.
- SWEATERS - Please be reminded that school sweaters are GREEN. Sweaters are on sale at the school's bookstore.

HOMEWORK
PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD'S HOMEWORK JOURNAL EACH NIGHT.
- There will be written homework EVERY NIGHT.
- Homework should be checked and signed.
- Your child should be able to complete his/her homework assignment with minimal assistance from you. PLEASE allow him/her to work by him/herself to encourage independence and problem solving. REMEMBER, you will NOT be there to help them during testing times.
REMINDER OF NEW HOMEWORK POLICIES/EXPECTATIONS
Homework not being done will no longer be tolerated or accepted. Every day there are anywhere from 3-7 students with no homework.
I have:
- taken away playtime
- given second (and sometimes 3rd) chances to complete the work
- emailed or sent text messages to you
- spoken to some of you face to face
- had the Senior Mistress come in to speak with the class
As of TODAY, ALL of the following go into effect:
- Continued emails and text messages will be sent - only this time the message will be "Your child has just received a Referral for no or incomplete homework".
- "0" grade for work not done or partial credit for incomplete work
- REFERRALS to the office
- DEMERITS
- Homework journals will be checked and signed by TEACHER AND PARENT
- ALL HOMEWORK must be signed.
- NO MORE EXCUSES will be accepted - either the homework is IN CLASS or its not.
WEEKLY REVIEW
I've collected the Social Studies journals to "grade" and I am amazed at the number of errors, missing notes, misspelled/incomplete words and sentences for notes that were given on the current topic "National Symbols of The Bahamas". Parents, your child will NOT succeed if the notes they are studying from are incomplete, make no sense and/or are difficult to read.
