SAYRE PTO WALK-A-THON!
Our amazing Sayre Sharks and their friends and families encouraged donations to our Sayre PTO totaling more than 58 thousand dollars! Your generosity is outstanding! Your donations help make lasting improvements to our playground, provide for helpful tools like copiers, and help fund many fun events for our students throughout this school year and beyond.
Congratulations to Miss Green's class...

COMMUNITY INFORMATION:
Additionally, during the school day the path from Oak Creek Village onto school grounds is not open to Public Use. Visitors need to report directly to the Main Entrance or office to explain their school related business or to schedule an appointment with the appropriate staff member. Students and staff have learned as part of modern security protocol to identify those individuals on school grounds who are not known to them or clearly identifiable as safe to be in or at school by wearing a badge and safety vest as a potential threat.

SMART WATCHES/GIZMOS
These devices are not permitted at school. Please review the Sayre Student and Family handbook. These devices are not allowed because they are communication devices with audio and pictures capability which can be a distraction from the learning process and create community concerns regarding the violation of privacy when worn/used in the community bathrooms.
MICHIGAN TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is opening the nomination process for Michigan Teacher of the Year (MTOY), an annual program that recognizes outstanding teachers in our state. Each year, 10 Regional Teachers of the Year (RTOYs) are selected through a competitive application process, with one of the RTOYs named Michigan Teacher of the Year. Please make nominations using the online form, (also linked below) which is available until Monday, October 24, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.
SAYRE HANDBOOK
Parents/Guardians please read our Student and Family Handbook (linked here Sayre Handbook 2021-2022.pdf), which includes details about arrival, dismissal and other important information. Please make sure to look it over prior to the first day.
SAYRE COMMUNICATION:
The Sayre Elementary Principal is Mrs. Susan Maurus - mauruss@slcs.us - during the school year, whenever possible, her office sends a weekly email of information which often includes a video.
Please add these four contacts to your phone/email list of contacts:
1, Sayre Elementary Office, Phone: 1-248-573-8500, Email #1: sayre@slcs.us,
2. SLCS - Email: donotreply@slcs.us
3. Sayre Attendance - please call 248-573-8475 - to report your student(s) absence/late arrival/early departure. Please include your student’s first and last name with the spelling of the last name along with the reason for absence from school. The office is busy in the morning so please call this number to leave a recorded message with any attendance related information - absences, late arrival, early dismissal - prior to 9:30AM.
If you are emailing your student's teacher in advance about any planned absence (appointments, vacation, days off, holiday) then please also copy the Sayre Office at sayre@slcs.us. For student safety and Michigan Department of Education state regulations attendance for each student is reconciled each day by the office staff. Including the office in your email communications regarding attendance helps your student’s teacher from having to forward your communication to the office for the attendance record.
