April 2021 Edition

100 days!

100 days! We made it to 100 days of school! Spring has sprung and we couldn't be more excited for sunny days and warmer temps. Hold on tight, as these next few months will fly by! April and May are very busy months. I encourage you to follow us on Facebook and SeeSaw for daily and weekly announcements. As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Less Screen time, More GREEN time

No more being cooped up inside. Time to get out and enjoy this wonderful spring weather. I'm bringing back our Less Screen Time, More Green time challenge. Put away the devices, video games, and other electronics and pick up a good book to read outside, play a board game on the back porch, or do anything outside! Snap some pictures and send them to me via email. We'll be showcasing students during morning messages.

March Reading Challenge

I don't know who loved it more, the kids or me? I am so proud of our students who worked so hard to meet their March reading goal. I had over 100 students meet their goal which means I was covered with 100 cans of silly string! Kuddos to parents who encouraged your children along the way!

Caring Connections- Conscious Discipline

Caring Connections Calendar Authentic connection provides a buffer that softens the negative effects of stressful situations. As you and your family cope with the life changes and anxiety caused by COVID-19, use activities from this Caring Connections Calendar to enjoy restorative moments of bonding, beauty and joy.

Created by Master Instructor Kim Hughes, the Caring Connections Calendar features activities that strengthen relationships by practicing kindness, being grateful and spending quality time with those we love. Each activity builds connection while encouraging kind acts, helpfulness and positivity. Like connection, being kind and helpful to others is a biological imperative that is required for optimal brain development. It also releases feel-good chemicals and hormones, something we could all benefit from right now.

Similarly, focusing on the positive creates more positivity. Practicing gratitude offers significant benefits for our mental and physical health, including enhanced empathy, better sleep and improved self-esteem. The activities included in the Caring Connections Calendar may seem simple, but the impact they’ll have on you and your family is powerful.
