NO SCHOOL - NOVEMBER 25 - 27 THANKSGIVING BREAK
VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION
Please join us in honoring our Swanson Community Veterans this Veterans Day with a reverse Veterans Day Parade on Wednesday, November 11th from 10:30-10:55 a.m! Please invite your family members, neighbors, and friends who are past and current service men and women of all branches of our Armed Services to join us on this special day. Our students and staff will be lining the Swanson parking lot and drive to welcome our honorees as they drive through our cue.
On this day all members of the Swanson Community of Learners will be wearing red, white, and blue. Please talk with your Superstar about the veterans who may be in your family or circle of friends to invite them to our special event!
Please note: We will be watching the weather next week, and will communicate in case we would need to cancel the event by 9:00 AM the morning of the event.
We are thankful!
At this time of Thanksgiving we, the Swanson Staff, want you to know how thankful we are for you, our Swanson families. Our Superstars are all learning and growing and the support you give both them and us is so appreciated. Please know your partnership with us does make a difference in your child’s success. We hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
In gratefulness,
The Swanson Staff
Grandfriend's Day
Picture Retake Day! Tuesday, November 17!
Did your smile look crooked? Did your eyes shut down? Did your hair stand up? Was the camera flash too bright? Did you forget your picture money? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have your school pictures retaken on Tuesday, November 17. Please return your whole picture package to Mrs. Jolkowski as soon as possible. If you were absent on picture day or didn't get your picture taken, please let Mrs. Jolkowski know so your picture can be included in the yearbook!
You can order pictures online from November 10 - 19th or you may request a picture order form from the office.
Original Works
By now you have hopefully had a chance to see an exciting project sent home with your student. Original Works has been part of Swanson for many years, but this year, you get to create artwork at home, together! Included in the packet are the instructions, art paper, lots of ideas, and an order form so you can purchase many fun items with your child's artwork.
All ORDERS MUST BE TURNED BY NOVEMBER 11TH!
It's a great opportunity to get gifts for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and yourself! If you have any questions, please email Tia Carlson at tmcurls@gmail.com or Allison Raetz at allison.raetz@gmail.com

Thank you for generosity during this time of year!

Extended Campus Learners
Westside Community Schools is offering an at-home learning option for all students, Extended Campus Learning. Up until this point, we have guaranteed extended campus learning through the end of first semester. Westside is committing to offer extended campus learning through the end of the school year.
Families will indicate if they want to participate in extended campus learning for second semester through an application process.
The application will be open for PK-6th grade students November 10 through December 1st.
Extended campus learning applications will be reviewed at the building level before a student is granted extended campus learning placement for second semester. Students and families may be required to attend a meeting (virtual or in person) with a building representative before placement is approved.
This application MUST be completed for any family planning to learn from home second semester, including those who are currently extended campus learners.
For students physically attending school, in-person learning for the second semester will begin for all students on January 5th. Families planning on learning at school do NOT need to complete any paperwork or this application. This message pertains ONLY to families who want to learn from home second semester. Please continue reading for important changes to programming and delivery of instruction at each level.
During the first semester, we were flexible with families because it was a new model and there were some unknowns. Because we are making changes to the extended campus model that involve staffing allocations, once a family chooses a placement for the second semester, no changes will be made for the rest of the school year.
Don't Forget In School Wednesdays are a 3:00 PM Dismissal!
Keep us from getting lost!
Please make sure to mark all jackets, coats, hats, gloves, lunch pails, backpacks and other student items with their NAME in case they are left around the building or out at recess. This helps us get them back to the right owner.
The school has a Lost and Found that students are welcome to look through if something is missing. If your child needs help finding a missing item call the office and we will help with the search.
