Since 1913, Sacred Heart Catholic School has provided an excellent education with a foundation in faith formation! This 2021-2022 school year, SHCS will be a S.T.R.E.A.M. school. We will utilize cross-curriculum approach and a new mindset in integrating multiple curriculums while using technology to enhance the classroom learning experience.

Principal Bio

Joseph Olan is married to Mari Olan and has two beautiful children (a son in college and a daughter entering her high school senior year). He has Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Houston and a B.A. in History from New Mexico State University. He also has completed 36 hours for his Doctoral program (Brain, Mind, and Teaching) from Johns Hopkins University.

Joseph is a servant leader that utilizes best practices in neuroeducation and 21st century global competence (skills/qualities) to coach educators and facilitate trainings and exemplar lessons for educators, students, and families. He has always been active in the Catholic church (ex. CCD teacher). He is proud to serve the Faith development and Academic preparation of Sacred Heart Catholic School students.

Joseph began his educational career as a Troops to Teacher, mentor, and department head. Mr. Olan then transitioned into various roles such as academic coach, academic dean, intern-superintendent, and international presenter. Mr. Olan was selected Teacher of the Year at two different campuses when he taught in Houston, Texas.

He is also a recipient of the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching award 2014-2015 (U.S. Department of State). He spent five months in the Republic of Singapore collaborating, facilitating presentations, and giving exemplar lessons. He has also been a guest panelist/presenter at two regional Global Teaching dialogues (Houston, TX (2020), Columbia, SC. 2018) and the Global Teaching dialogue in Washington D.C (2019). These were sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

During the COVID-19 pandemic May 2020; Mr. Olan presented at the Safe at Home Global Virtual conference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbR8qV5y6Rc and at the Education Reimagined: Global Symposium https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS7jmYzEPwg
