Georgia School Counselor Association Conference

We are so proud of Ms. Miller, Ms. Williams, Ms. Pniewski, and Ms. Chennault for representing Centennial Academy at the Georgia School Counselor Association Conference. Not only are these dynamic ladies improving their craft through professional development at the conference, but they are also sharing their knowledge and best practices with fellow counselors as presenters at the conference! That's right; they provided an intriguing and informative session on “Conflict Resolution: Methods to Successfully Resolve Conflict with Students, Teachers, and Parents.” These ladies are HEROES and leaders in the field of counseling! Way to go ladies!

Partnerships in action benefitting scholar growth

Centennial Academy has been afforded a unique opportunity to partner with GA Tech. K-2 scholars will have the opportunity to provide feedback to GA Tech students on picture books they have created. GA Tech students will visit K-2 classes on Thursday, November 15th to share their picture books. This is part of the Writing and Communication Program at GA Tech.

Daily Rigorous Instruction

In addition to teaching scholars the curriculum our teachers focus on collaboration and relationship building in their lessons. They create opportunities throughout the day to give scholars a chance to be active and social and combine learning with fun. We believe that through this way of teaching scholars will be able to build on their critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, and time-management skills, as well as being receptive to and utilize critical feedback, be open to possible failures, and provide clear and convincing written and oral expression.

Shout out to Ms. Davis for letting her inner kid shine with her scholars

How do I volunteer my time and talents?

Centennial Academy welcomes and encourages volunteers! However, to ensure the safety of all our scholars, we require potential volunteers to complete training and a background check prior to volunteering. Yes, even if you have completed training last school year.

Volunteer training will be held from 9:00 am - 9:30 am on November 27 and December 11. Additionally, volunteer training will be held after each PTA meeting.

For more information, please contact Ms. Odom, Family Engagement Specialist at pdom@centennialacademycharter.org
