Elementary School Book Drive!
As I've been meeting individually with students to set goals & discover their personal & academic needs, I've noticed that many of my students do not have books at home to choose from. Seeing this need birthed the thought of us counselors having a potential district wide book drive during RAK week. In a nutshell, ea. site will collect books and keep them on your campus to distribute to students in need. If we want, we can even include Middle and High school to help our cause and can give extra books to nearby sister schools who don't have counselors (i.e. Foothill Oak, Grapevine, etc.) As I was thinking about this idea for a book drive, I went to the RAK website and lo' and behold, they had this video about a school who had a book drive and it was successful. This was a confirmation for me and I'd like to do it as a team. We can talk about this more at our next PLC on 1/12, but I wanted to see what you all think about this because we'll need to start planning ASAP?? Please let me know what your thoughts are about this.
A Book Drive
REMIND App // Parent Involvement tool
Hello ladies!
This is an EXCELLENT app we can use to keep in contact with parents who's child is in your small groups and send attachments of curriculum and other pertinent info. directly to them via TEXT! I will presenting this resource to my staff this week and many of them will be able to utilize it for the new year to improve parent involvement. This is a safe & effective way to communicate with parents because some may not have email access, but everyone has a smartphone these days.
