Launch Virtual Academy - QUARTER 2
[Dec 12th - 16th] THIS IS THE LAST WEEK OF Q2 👩🚀WEEK 10🚀
Hello Launch Academy Students ( & Parents),
This is it! This is the last week of our second quarter (Q2). I am very proud of you, your hard work, resiliency, and tenacity. I know that online learning is not easy and you have given your best effort.
This week we have a modified schedule to accommodate teachers' needs to grade students' work and report final grades. Each student that passes a class will receive a letter grade from "A" through "D". Students that have not completed a class, will receive a letter grade of "I" (incomplete).
Students receiving a grade of "I" will be able to continue working on their class(es) during winter break until Friday, January 6th. We will have academic support daily during winter break (Winter Credit Completion) to help you finish the class(es).
Our third quarter (Q3) starts on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023. You will be able to access your Q3 classes in Infinite Campus Portal on Friday, January, 6th. In addition, we will email you, your Q3 class schedule on Monday, January 9th.
If you are a high school student and if you pass all your Q2 classes and if you need to get caught up with credits because you failed classes prior to joining our school or you have incompletes from last school year or from Q1, you have the opportunity to work on ONE class during WINTER CREDIT RECOVERY. Your counselor will be reaching out to you to let you know if you can join this opportunity.
ASB Student Elections are running this week! Students make sure to cast your vote.
On a separate note and on behalf of all the people that work at Launch Virtual Academy, I want to wish you and your family a holiday season full of joy. May the holidays bring you good health, happiness and prosperity.
See you online!

Mental Health Resources for the Holidays
The winter holiday season can be a festive, joyful time, but holidays can also bring up big feelings for adults and young people alike. For young people, the changes in routine, new people, and different foods can be stressful. For adults, there are financial worries, family conflicts, work and life burnout, dealing with crowded stores and shortages, and preconceived ideas of what the holidays should be like.
SDCOE’s Student Wellness and School Culture team suggests these ways to help someone who may be struggling this holiday season:
- Remain present for them at each stage and allow them to tell you where they are and what they need
- Acknowledge emotions without judgment
- Remind them it is OK to feel sad and show grief
- Encourage them to take care of their body’s core needs, such as drinking water, eating, and sleeping
- Check in regularly and over time
- Model and encourage healthy routines and creative outlets
If you or someone you know are experiencing distress, the San Diego Crisis Line is 1-888-724-7240 or text HELLO to 741741. If you are in need of resources not related to school, please dial 2-1-1 or search our Resource Guide: bit.ly/SUHSDResources.
