What will the EHS hybrid schedule look like?
- Our student record system (Skyward) updated 2nd semester schedules to allow for smaller class sizes. New schedules will be available to view in Skyward on Wednesday, January 27th.
- Distance learning times have been adjusted slightly to allow for more time in the afternoons.
Students will also come in-person TWO afternoons per week.
- All classes were divided into A & B groups of no more than 15 students per group. You should have received another email indicating your A/B designation.
- Group A students will come on Monday afternoons for periods 1-3 and on Thursday afternoons for periods 4-6.
- Group B students will come on Tuesday afternoons for periods 1-3 and on Friday afternoons for periods 4-6.
Attendance and grades will be generated based on participation in both distance learning and in-person class times. As usual, please notify the EHS office if you will be absent for distance learning or in-person class periods. Students will need to work with teachers to arrange make-up of missed activities.
Graphics of the A & B schedules are included below.
PIERCE COUNTY SKILLS CENTER STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE ADDITIONAL SCHEDULE INFORMATION LATER THIS WEEK.
Why did we choose this model?
Because of the rigorous graduation requirements in the State of Washington and because our courses are credit-bearing, it was important for us to increase instructional time for students as we moved toward in-person learning. We recognize that 86% of schools across the United States are currently operating in-person at a full-capacity or hybrid-capacity. We want our students to be competitive with peers when moving to post-high school placements, including colleges, apprenticeships, trade schools and/or military training.
By maintaining our current distance learning and adding the additional in-person sessions, we are able to increase instructional time by 35%. In addition, we will be able to provide students with learning experiences that have been impossible in a distance learning model.
What will students be doing in the in-person afternoon class periods?
- hands-on labs and experiences
- performance-based assessments
- tests and quizzes
- additional content and practice
- classroom discussion
- focus on depth of understanding
- work time and individual support
- demonstrations and activities
How will students get to school?
Students who walk, get dropped off or self-transport should plan to travel to school after distance learning ends at 11:00. Students should plan to arrive at school no earlier than 11:50, unless planning to eat school lunch.
School will end at 2:20 and students will be dismissed to the bus or other.

COVID-19 Prevention Measures
Staff and students are required by state law to comply with ALL of the following COVID prevention strategies:
Correct use of a face mask. Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth at all times while on campus. Mask breaks are allowed only if staff/students are outside and at least 6 feet away from another person.
Social distancing. A minimum of 6 feet of physical distance must be maintained when seated or standing in one place for any length of time. When walking through hallways and/or classrooms, please make an effort to stay as far away as possible from others.
Hand hygiene. Students and staff will be expected to use hand sanitizer and/or wash hands when entering and exiting classrooms. In addition, students and staff will be expected to use hand sanitizer before and after touching any shared equipment.
Desk hygiene. Students will be provided with non-toxic, fragrance free disinfecting wipes to clean their desk/chair at the end of each class period.
One-way foot traffic in hallways and on staircases.
Hallway lockers will not be used in order to prevent crowding in hallways.
Consider participation in weekly COVID-19 testing. Staff and students are able to be tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis free of charge.
In addition to those personal protection measures, the Eatonville School District has implemented the following:
HVAC filtration and maximized fresh-air exchange.
Increased cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces.
Partnership with Infection Prevention and Anti-Microbial consultants to develop a comprehensive COVID-19 mitigation plan.
Reduced class sizes to comply with social distancing and group-size limits (15 maximum).
COVID-19 supervisors - incidents of non-compliance will be reported to the school’s supervisor(s).
Lunch and Breakfast
- Through the end of the school year, all students will be offered a free breakfast and a free lunch every school day. Breakfast will be provided for students who are on campus in the morning. Students will pick up their breakfast outside the kitchen and eat breakfast at their distance learning work station.
- Hot lunches will be individually packaged and available for any student who would like one between 11:00 and 11:50.
- Students will be allowed to eat in the cafeteria, on tables outside or in their cars and will be required to maintain social distancing at all times.
- Our microwaves in the Commons have been removed per COVID -19 recommendations.
- Grab and Go meal services will continue. Please watch your email for updated information from Eatonville School District regarding Grab and Go meal services.
Student Screening and Entry Procedures
Every student will need to complete the daily Skyward Wellness Check before coming to school (download the Skyward app). Students who don't pass the Skyward Wellness Check will be directed to stay home.
Students will show completed Skyward Wellness Check at the screening station. If a student does not have a phone, a paper version will be available at the screening station.
Staff will utilize a touchless thermometer to check student temperature. Any student with a fever will be directed to our isolation room and will be sent home.
Students will receive a stamp showing that they have successfully completed the screening and will go directly to class.
Face Coverings
Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth at all times while on campus (inside and outside).
Masks must be school appropriate.
Gaiters are an acceptable face cover as long as they are two layers thick, according to the CDD. Single layered gators can be folded over to accomplish this. They may only be worn if they provide two layers of cloth, cover both the mouth and the nose and must be worn appropriately.
Disposable masks will be provided for students when needed.
Alternatives to face masks are only an option in rare situations. These include students with disabilities, students under the age of 5, or students with medical conditions which prevent the use of masks. Medical verification will be required and questions should be directed to the student’s principal or the Student Services Department prior to February 5th.
Please refer to the Washington State Department of Health Guidance on Cloth Face Coverings and CDC Recommendation Regarding the Use of Cloth Face Coverings for more information.
Social distancing
- Students will be seated a minimum of 6’ apart in all classrooms.
- Social distancing guidelines will be strictly followed while students are on campus.
- Students must remain 6 feet apart from each other and from staff at all times.
Hallways
- Travel on the right side of the hallway. Staircases will be marked as one-way UP or DOWN. Students and staff will need to follow directional signs and keep hallways and stairways one-way.
- Students will not be allowed to stop and congregate in the hallway but must go directly to class during passing periods.
- Teachers will provide supervision and will greet students at the doors.
Classroom Expectations
- Students will have an assigned seat in each classroom and will be expected to face forward. This will ensure that students maintain social distance.
- Bring your own school supplies. If you need something, please let your teacher or the office know.
- Students will assist in cleaning their workspace at the end of each class period.
Restrooms
- Teachers will be allowing only one student at a time to leave class.
- Students will sign out of class on a clipboard using their own pen.
- No gathering in restrooms.
- Remember to wash hands appropriately.
Late Arrival/Early Pick Up
- LATE ARRIVAL: Students who are late to school will need to come through the front door of the school and stop at the office to check in for the Health Screening. Parents should stay in their vehicle, call the office to notify us (360-879-1200) before sending their child into the building.
- EARLY PICKUP: Parents/Guardians who need to pick up a student before the end of the school day, must remain in their vehicle. Please call the office (360-879-1200) to let us know and we will send your child out to meet you.
Cleaning and Sanitation Routines
Custodial staff will conduct additional disinfecting and cleaning, utilizing Environmental Protection Agency-rated cleaners and ensure sanitization of frequently touched surfaces, such as door handles and light switches.
Classrooms, offices, and restrooms will be cleaned throughout the day and as needed.
In addition to cleaning by the custodial staff, students will be provided with cleaning wipes to allow them to wipe down their desk and chair at the end of each class period. These non-toxic, fragrance-free cleaning wipes are hydrogen-peroxide based and approved for student and staff use.
What if a COVID-19 Exposure Occurs?
Families will be expected to immediately report suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 to school staff.
Contact tracing will be conducted for close contacts (any individual within 6 feet of a confirmed case of Covid-19 for at least 15 minutes) of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients under the direction of state and local public health officials.
Families will be informed via standard district communication channels if a student was exposed to a confirmed case of Covid-19. Notification of possible exposure will take place as soon as possible.
All identified contacts should self-quarantine at home for 14 days from their last exposure (i.e., close encounter with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case).
Testing should be considered for all close contacts of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients.
What if my student is tested for COVID-19 or develops symptoms?
Per Washington State Department of Health:
IF THERE IS A KNOWN EXPOSURE TO COVID-19: stay home for a minimum of 14 days from last date of exposure.
IF PCR TESTING FOR COVID-19 IS POSITIVE: stay home for a minimum of 10 days from symptom onset and 24 hours after fever and symptoms have resolved (without the use of fever reducing medications).
IF PCR TESTING FOR COVID-19 IS NEGATIVE AND NO KNOWN EXPOSURES TO COVID-19: stay home for 24 hours after fever and symptoms have resolved (without the use of fever reducing medications).
IF PCR TESTING FOR COVID-19 IS NOT PERFORMED: stay home for at least 10 days from symptom onset and 24 hours after fever has resolved (without the use of fever reducing medications).
