Another Species Going Endangered?
How the climate change is effecting Green Sea Turtles
What is Climate Change?
It is a change in global or regional climate patterns, increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. Shifts in the ecosystem are causing the green house gasses in the earths atmosphere. Heat is trapped in the atmosphere causing it to act like a blanket, this is from carbon dioxide being produced from coal, oil, factories, driving cars and using thing that need gases.
Gas Pollution
"Air pollution causes an estimated 152,000 deaths a year across the Americas and more than 2 million deaths in the Western Pacific, according to the United Nations. Some parts of the world have a detailed view of local air quality from ground sensor networks and forecast models that generate public alerts. But for much of the world this type of information and warning are not available."
Actic Desaster
"Nitrogen dioxide is a well-known air pollutant and health hazard, and black carbon, also known as soot, is an agent of global warming that is critical for understanding climate change effects in the Arctic. In addition to absorbing sunlight while aloft, which heats the air, black carbon darkens white snow when it settles on the surface, accelerating snowmelt. The amount of black carbon that reaches the Arctic is currently poorly estimated."
Changes in Species and Habitats
"A new study reveals that variations in cloud cover, which influence environmental factors like rain and sunlight, can help scientists identify where plants and animals can survive."
Background
Sea turtles are very endangered and are at crucial risk. They are found in coral reefs and non polar oceans. The reason that sea turtles are much bigger than land tortoises and freshwater turtles is directly related with the vastness of the ocean, and the fact that they travel such far distances. They are endangered because of there habitat is being polluted by fishing nets and oils being dumped out. They harm they're herbivore habitat and are at risk be they are so larger in mass and hard to save.
