WMS Principal Update
Distance Learning 2020
May 18, 2020
Good afternoon Woodbury Middle School,
Last week we celebrated a few firsts at WMS. The first zoom assembly occurred on Thursday, with over 200 participants. The students watched a 12-minute video with messages from their teachers sharing how they have been spending time during this pandemic but, more importantly, how much they miss their students. It was heartwarming to see the student's faces during the assembly. A link to the video is below for you to enjoy. The week concluded with our first teacher parade through a portion of our neighborhoods in Region 14. The second parade will take place this Friday, leaving the school at 1:45. We hope we see more students out and waving as we drive our remaining bus routes. I have included a link to the parade video as well.
Parents, if you do not receive the weekly updates pushed out from PowerSchool, please remember to log in and monitor student progress. By logging in, you will see student assignments and any missing work. As we approach the end of the year, students need to complete any missing assignments so that teachers can accurately assess them.
Student personal item pick up day is scheduled for next week. Starting on May 26th, we plan for students' belongings to be picked up via a curbside pick-up schedule. The schedule will be sent out later this week.
WMS Social Media Challenge: In an attempt to keep students connected with our school community, we have created #WMSCreates2020 for students to follow. We challenge students and our entire community (parents, staff, and siblings) to create something using found objects or just your creativity. Think of music, art, food, writing, fitness, trick shots, technology, etc. Send your entries to ashuhart@ctreg14.org or have students upload to the WMS Family folder under the WMSCreates assignment. We are posting on both Instagram and Twitter under #WMSCreates2020, or you can look to Twitter (@Woodbury_MSLMC) and Instagram (@wms_lmc_2020). Show us what you can do WMS!!
Have a great week and stay well,
Bill Nemec
