Wasco Weekly
THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS ITS PACK
iReady Snowman Update...keep up the great work!

February 3, 2023
Wasco Families,
We are in store for an exciting week at Wasco! On Tuesday, our whole school will organize into mixed grade groups for our Townhall meeting. This Townhall topic is “Managing Our Emotions”. I expect we will have some terrific discussions and as a culmination project, the students are designing helpful posters to hang all around our school. I will be sure to share some pictures next week!
Also on the schedule is a terrific evening sharing Literacy on Thursday night. We are excited to welcome so many families to our school to share stories, games, and laughter! I am so grateful for the team of teachers who have been working for months to prepare this special event for our school.
Kind Regards,
Principal Stephanie Brennan

Conversation ideas after our Townhall:
Tell me about your Townhall group. What did you talk about?
Mrs. Brennan said you made a poster. Can you tell me what you chose to add to the poster and why?
What was your favorite part of the Townhall meeting? Why?

Weather considerations for Outdoor Activities
During our school day students are scheduled for a classroom recess, lunch recess, and possibly outdoor P.E., as a result, our students dutifully bring their outside gear in extra bags so they can enjoy these outdoor activities. (Probably they have help from their families, getting these bags prepared- Thank you!)
Our Elementary School Handbook shares the guidelines for Outdoor Physical Activity. If temperatures are at or below zero degrees (with wind chill), we do not go outside. The specifics can be found on page 8 in the Section Dress Code: Outdoor Physical Activity. This section of the Handbook also lists our policies for other types of weather. See button below.

A message from Spirit Club and Wellness Club:
Hi Wasco families!
In February, the Spirit Club and Wellness Club will be once again co-hosting a food drive in coordination with the Salvation Army. Students will be able to bring in canned/boxed foods and personal care items (see link below) starting February 6th-February 17th. There will be large, red bins or multiple, smaller, boxes in each grade level hallway and in the main lobby so that students can drop off their food items first thing in the morning. We are looking forward to giving back to our community and want to THANK YOU in advance for helping us make a difference!!

CHAMPS Expectations
Welcome to the final segment in our CHAMPS Expectations review. Below you will find the expectations for our hallways. If you have been in our hallways at all this year, you will have noticed that they are quite busy. Students move through the hallways as classes, grade levels, small groups and individually. During Specials transitions (Art, PE, Music, and Empower), this can be pretty challenging. We prepare our students for the hallway each and every time that we leave a learning environment, because we know how distracting loud noises can be in the classrooms when learning is happening. We understand that complete silence is not attainable, however, we do reward classrooms for showing their Wasco Best, through positive praise and distributing paw prints. Please take the time to review these expectations with your child(ren). We all want to provide the best learning environment for our kiddos! Thank you in advance for your continued support!
