The Panther Pride

November 29 - December 3, 2021

Hello Panther Community

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. I am thankful for the opportunity to rest, relax and spend some quality time with my family. I hope you were able to do the same! As we move into the holiday season and the last few weeks of this quarter, I want to extend my gratitude for the educational partnership we share. We all know that it takes a village and the Vaca Pena village is so supportive and caring! The transition from distance learning to in-person learning has had it's ups and downs but together, our students have re-engaged in the classroom expectations and learning. I am proud of them but I am also on a "can't stop, won't stop" mission to get them to be their very best! 2022 is just around the corner and my wish for all students is to:

  • Have zero missing assignments
  • Participate in all learning opportunities
  • Be kind, be thoughtful, be genuine in your actions and of course to listen to your inner voice that tells you to "Always do what is right even when no one is looking!"

I am a happy to announce that the glitch in the 5:00 School Loop email is fixed! Parents should once again be receiving the evening progress emails. As a reminder, you can always check your student's progress via the School Loop app or by logging onto the school website. We have just three weeks left in this quarter. Students should be working on missing assignments, working with teachers to make up and/or retake tests. Questions about student progress? You can email your student's teachers or counselor to discuss their progress.

Once we return from Winter Break, our planning for next year begins! During the 3rd quarter, Will C Wood and Buckingham High Schools will be visiting our 8th graders to start the registration process. Counselors will visit with 7th graders to choose next year's electives. 7th graders will have opportunities to apply for AVID 8 Elective, Leadership Elective and W.E.B. Now is the time to make sure that grades, behavior and attendance represent WHO THEY ARE! Please don't hesitate to reach out to your student's counselor if you would like more information on next year.

Together, let's make the MIDDLE matter,

Colleen Moe
