Husky Happenings
April 29 - May 3
From Mr. Martin
Just four recommendations from our “Parenting in the Digital Age” presentation. What a great event and a great night with a powerful message.
--Just because it is mobile doesn’t mean it has to be mobile (Social media ‘snacking’.)
--No tech at the table
--No tech in the bedroom and bathroom
--No tech 30 min prior to bedtime
Please ask me for further clarification regarding the above recommendations. This was part of a presentation that was around 45 minutes. Very insightful and relevant to this moment in being a parent and raising kids.
Please be aware that we are monitoring fees and sending out reminder letters. It is imperative that we address fees at the end of every year, especially prior to leaving TRMS. Also, gr. 8 will be turning in their chromebooks on May 16, 2019. Remember, these devices are still used within USD 231 and need to be turned in damage free. (Look at your student’s device). Gr. 8 students are issued a new chromebook as a freshman at GEHS.
As we approach the end of the year, we are writing to make you aware of a change in the end of year recognitions at Trail Ridge Middle School. Based on feedback received in relation to our end of the year awards assembly, both parents and students have expressed the event has become impersonal due to the large number of students in each grade. In order to make the end of the year awards assembly more personal and meaningful for all those involved, awards in grades five, six, and seven will be handed out by classroom teachers in the classroom on the last week of school. Students will bring their awards certificates home outlining their accomplishments throughout the year. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have questions. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
A couple of positives. 1) I had a parent give me a check for $25 to sponsor a student and family in need. 2) While studying about Earth Day a student asked for a trash bag when leaving school for the day. That student picked up trash while walking home. *(appropriate quote below)
MINDSET MOMENT: It always seems impossible until it is done.
