Spring 2023
Principal's Corner
Dear KCCHS Families,
As we near the end of our 22/23 school year, I want to thank you all for your continued support and partnership. Helping all students to reach their potential and attain their personal goals requires a collaboration with their family -- student success truly takes a village.
Here are a few Early Spring celebrations:
- KCCHS Athletes did a spectacular job this year maintaining academic clearance and demonstrating great sportsmanship while on the field/on the court. We are proud of all of our student athletes, and appreciative of the staff who supported through coaching!
- Many of our seniors are accepting university spots. Congratulations for your sustained hard work!
- Graduation for seniors is around the corner. We hope that you will join us in celebrating all of our seniors as they head into the real world and pursue college and career goals! Please know that we are alway here for you, even after you graduate. Check out our Alumni Foundation!
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Here are a few reminders on how to check in on your teen:
- Take time to listen to and talk with your child about their day. Help your child verbalize some of the feelings he/she might be feeling.
- Encourage teens to take breaks from their electronics and make time to visit with friends & family, or get outside and go for a walk.
- Teens require lots of sleep. Please ensure that your teen is getting between 8-10 hours of sleep a night.
- Pay attention to signs of grief or substance abuse that may indicate a need for further counseling. If you would like on site counseling support, please contact the front office or Mrs. Sullivan for a Referral.

Three US Federal Judges visit Ms. Akiaten's class to make a presentation.
The Federal Magistrate Judgeโs Association of Western Texas, Robes In Schoolโs program is coming to King Chavez High School. The goal of the program is to inform students about the role of the federal judiciary and show them the variety of people that become federal judges and the variety of ways they come to the bench. It is our hope that the program enlightens students about the opportunity they might have to be a judge and increase the diversity of those interested in serving as judges.
