Principal's Message

What an incredible week at GRE! Parents, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for all of your support and pledges during our Apex fundraiser! Your generosity is so appreciated and we are excited to be able to resurface our basketball court and provide some upgrades to our classrooms with your donations! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The finality to our fundraiser - our Fun Run - was a huge success and Mother Nature sure cooperated perfectly!

In other news, I want to share something new we will be starting at GRE this year. We talked about this briefly at Back to School Parent Information Night but we are starting our Eagles' Nests and our first one will be on Friday, Oct 7. Every student will be assigned to an Eagles' Nest where they will have an adult leader and approximately 9-11 family members from all grade levels in their nests. Students will stay in the same nest throughout their entire time at GRE. This is another way for every student to connect with others in our school and we will also be engaging in civic engagement activities when we meet in our nests. Make sure to ask your student next Friday about their Eagles' Nest!

GRE MOVIE NIGHT IS a week from tonight!

Our PTO is sponsoring our annual movie night again this year so mark your calendars for October 7! This is a fun opportunity for students and families to be together while we watch a movie projected on the side of the school as soon as it gets dark but we need your help to make this a success. Please consider signing up here to volunteer for this evening of fun. Student Council is working on the movie options for the student body to vote on and students will be voting early next week.

Community Connections=Stronger Learning Opportunities!

A KDWP Speaker, Alaina Hudlin, came on Thursday to speak to our 3rd grade classes about how animal adaptations help animals survive within their habit or niche. Our 3rd graders have been learning about adaptations in science as well as in reading. The students were able to touch the pelts, bones and taxidermy animals to discover different structural adaptations.
