BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING - THURSDAY, JANUARY 5, 2023

The next Board of Education Meeting will be tonight, Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. Board meetings will continue to be streamed live and can be accessed on the website prior to the start of the meeting at www.sbschools.org.


We welcome and invite anyone who would like to make a public comment at any of our Board of Education meetings to please attend the in-person meeting. Although not required, the Board requests that residents who are interested in speaking at a Board meeting register with the Board Secretary's office prior to the meeting by calling (732) 297-7800, extension 3110 or by emailing marcia.garitano@sbschools.org. Residents will be heard during the portion of the meeting designated for public comment.


At this meeting, our new board members will be sworn in.

UPCOMING K-8 PARENT ACADEMY - THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 2023

There is stil time to register! Our next Parent Academy entitled "Understanding Math Instruction" will be held on Thursday, January 12th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Crossroads North Cafeteria A. Please click here for more information including registration.

PRESCHOOL EXPANSION PROGRAM UPDATE

The South Brunswick School District is excited to announce its Preschool Expansion Program. This begins January 17, 2023 for currently enrolled students. Interested families that are not currently enrolled in preschool programs in SBSD will have an opportunity to submit names for a “lottery” that will take place after February 1, 2023.

CERTIFIED TEACHERS NEEDED

South Brunswick School District is looking for Certified Preschool Teachers ..Interested candidates must hold a P-3 DOE certificate. Please click here to apply online at our website.

CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL COUGAR COUNCIL COLLECTING CLEAN NEWSPAPER

The Cambridge School Cougar Council is collecting CLEAN NEWSPAPER as a service project to benefit Second Chance For Animals Animal Shelter in Franklin. Donations will be accepted until Friday,February 3 and can be dropped off during school hours to Cambridge School, Attention: Cougar Council. SOUTH BRUNSWICK PARKS AND RECREATION - GRADES K-6

South Brunswick Parks & Recreation announce the following after school and evening programs at the South Brunswick Community Center, Woodlot Park, starting early January 2023. Registration is now open. Space is limited!



  • KidzArt will be holding a unique drawing program on Wednesdays starting January 11 from 5:00pm - 6:00pm. Please click here for more information.
  • Chess Wizards will teach basic chess skills. An advance player will learn creative ways to play the game on Tuesdays from 5:35pm - 6:35pm starting January 24. Please click here for more information. Please click here for more information.
  • Bricks4Kidz will introduce children to engineering, architecture, robotics and more. All while having fun with Lego bricks. The program starts Wednesday, February 1 from 6:00 – 7:30pm. Please click here for more information.
  • Junior Chef Box helps young chefs build a foundation for many essential skills. Cooking and baking helps kids self-esteem, learn basic math skills and fosters more family time. The fun begins on Thursday, February 2 from 6:00pm -7:30pm. Please click here for more information.

SPECIAL NEEDS YOUTH KARATE PROGRAM - AGES 6-18

The South Brunswick Parks & Recreation Department will be offering a Special Needs Youth Karate programs for ages 6- 11 and 12- 18 at the SB Community Center on Wednesdays from January 25 – February 15, 2023. THE SBHS PIRANDELLO PLAYERS PRESENTS "ALICE IN WONDERLAND"

The Pirandello Player's production of Alice in Wonderland will be performed on January 12, 13 and 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the South Brunswick High School Auditorium. Please click here to view the revised flyer and note that this performance contains flashing lights.

DISTRICTWIDE BUDGET COMMITTEE UPDATE

As previously shared, the Districtwide Budge Committee meetings are recorded and can be viewed on our district website under the Superintendent’s Corner entitled Districtwide Budget Committee Information. At this time, a recording of the December 14th meeting is now posted

HS GLOBAL STUDIES CLASS FEATURED ON NBC NEWS NOW AS THE STATE BECAME THE FIRST TO ENACT A LAW THAT WILL STANDARDIZE MEDIA LITERACY LESSONS FOR STUDENTS

Yesterday, January 4th, New Jersey became the first to sign a bill enacting a law that will standardize media literacy lessons for students. We are very excited to share that in December NBC News Now visited the South Brunswick High School Library to record a segment regarding this new law.
