March 2 - Read Across America Day
We are looking for parent volunteers to dress up as your favorite children's book character and come into the classroom to ready your favorite children's book. I will schedule parent readers throughout the morning, between 8:30 - 11:00am, but if you have a special time you can attend later in the day, I can make it work.
If you'd like to volunteer to dress up and read on Monday, March 2nd, please click the link below!
Thank You!
A special thank you goes out to The Still Family for organizing this fun filled night and to everyone who volunteered and helped in any way, especially to the Knights of Columbus for hosting such a delicious dinner and to Ms. Shannon Kirkland(and her student helpers) for providing inexpensive childcare for our students.
Thank You Third Grade Families!

Did You Know???
In middle school, students have the opportunity to take Algebra right here at St. Patrick School in a small group setting so that students are able to get more individualized instruction than they would receive anywhere else.
This is just one of the perks of our small class sizes and individualized instruction!
Be watching in the days ahead for special glimpse inside of a math class at St. Patrick School. I am certain you will be as blown away as I am every time I walk into our classrooms!
Fine Arts at St. Patrick School
This year, under the direction and leadership of our new art teacher, Mrs. Haywood, our middle school students have had the chance to take an Advanced Art class on top of their regular art class each week. This opportunity gave our art loving students a chance to deepen their artistic skill set in a small group setting with a teacher who truly believes in a hands on learning approach.
In our music department, Mrs. Davis gave our students the opportunity not only to learn musical skills, but to deepen their understanding of reading and performing music. Even our youngest students have learned to read and interpret music and hav mastered playing the hand bells. In our middle school, Mrs. Davis opened up a choir class and a special hand bells class that students had the option to join on top of their already scheduled weekly music classes. This has given our students who are vocally or instrumentally inclined to deepen their love fo music in a way they've never been given before!
Looking ahead to next year, even bigger changes are coming to our fine arts program! Soon, you'll receive information for a VERY exciting opportunity for our 4th and 5th grade students to participate in band! Yes, that's right! Band is coming to St. Patrick School and I could not be more excited!
Mrs. Davis will soon be sending out information for students who are interested in learning to play a brass or woodwind instrument next year at St. Patrick School. This program will be an actual class that will take place during the day, but practicing at home will be a must if you want to be involved.
We are incredibly grateful to Mrs. Davis for bringing this opportunity to our school!
Physical and Mental Wellness Focus at St. Patrick School
This year, we have addressed this need by adding on a school counselor and by bringing in the Signs of Suicide - Teen Suicide Prevention Program to our school. Our school counselor, Mrs. O'Hara, has worked with students to help them identify their own physical and mental wellbeing and given them the tools to handle life's challenges. Weekly, Mrs. O'Hara meets with our students to complete lessons and activities designed to give them a place to talk about their feelings, to work on social and emotional problems, and practice positive self talk.
Along with addressing our mental wellbeing needs, Coach Donnell has taken on the role of really helping our students focus on their own physical wellbeing. This year, Coach D designed a middle school elective in strength and agility where students are challenged to push themselves and increase their physical ability.
Next year, we are incredibly excited at the opportunity to welcome Coach D to our school FULL TIME! Yes, you heard that right, in 2020-2021 we will have Coach D with us on a full time daily basis and could not be more excited! This opportunity will allow us to extend the focus on physical and mental wellbeing throughout our entire school which is something you will find at NO other Catholic school in the northland!

Extra-Curricular Opportunities at St. Patrick School
Mrs. Hamilton's Crazy 8's Math Club
Crazy 8s is an over-the-top recreational after-school club that gets kids excited about math. You'll build glow-in-the-dark structures, crack secret spy codes and play get-up-and-move games like Toilet Paper Olympics.
Mrs. Hamilton graciously hosts this math club to make math learning more fun and hands on for students in grades K-5. If your child missed out on the Crazy 8's Math Club this year, be watching next fall for another opportunity for this fun filled experience!
Miss Tucker's Dance Class
Thanks to Miss Tucker, your child has an affordable, time saving way to learn some great dance moves, while hanging out with friends, and a really kind, patient teacher. Students of all ages are dancing the afternoon away under the leadership and direction of our very own middle school science and social studies teacher, Miss Melanie Tucker.
If you missed out on a chance for your child to participate this year, be looking forward to the fall when another opportunity will arise! Best of all, as with everything at St. Patrick School, ALL ARE WELCOME to sign up for this fun filled experience!
