A game-changing, free, awesome Chrome extension


Read&Write is a Chrome extension providing teacher and students some features to makes the web, documents and files more accessible - any time, any place, and on any platform or device. It's great for people with dyslexia and other learning difficulties, or anyone whose first language isn't English. From reading on-screen text aloud to researching and checking written work, Read&Write makes lots of everyday tasks easier.

What does it provide teachers?

  • Predictive Spelling (Google Doc)
  • Text to Speech
  • Speech to Text (Google Doc)
  • Dictionary
  • Picture dictionary
  • Fact Checker (Google search)
  • Translator (Spanish, French, Portuguese-will read them aloud as well)
  • Highlighter tools
  • Highlighter "Gathering" tool (collects highlights into a Google Doc)
  • Vocabulary Maker (AWESOME!!) Creates a vocabulary sheet in Google Docs.
  • Page Simplifier (removes images and can reduce the amount of text)

What does it provide students?

*TextHelp (Read&Write) was the initial tool for students participating in STAAR-A.
