Choosing to Grow Up
I read an article this week on the millennial generation and "adulating". If you haven't heard the term yet, it is a reference to the mundane tasks we all have to do in our adult lives that are often viewed as lacking in fun or opportunity for growth such as paying bills or mowing the lawn. In this article, Shar Walker suggests four pursuits the Bible offers regarding growing up. They are: the pursuit of self control, hard work, discipleship and wisdom.
I must admit that there are times that I feel disconnected form my millennial generation and others in which I find myself in the "adulting" mentality when I look over all of the things in my life that I wish I didn't have to do. However, the Bible is clear that there is a time to be a child and then there is a time to put away childish things in order to pursue godly things. While having child-like faith is certainly commended, remaining a child is not. The world is a difficult place and is in desperate need of godly adults to lead future generations in the truth and light of the Gospel. I urge you to put away childish things and boldly pursue a God who has walked with you in life into adulthood. I have linked the article below if you would like to read further. God Bless!!!!!
